If applying as a sophomore or junior, you better have taken those classes. That’s pretty much the message on their website

So if you’ve completed 5 semesters, can you apply as a junior still?

Just complete at least 2 years at Penn and you are fine

Regarding the transfer percentages, I believe it depends on the school you are applying to.

My HS Stats:
3.75/400 GPA (No class rankings)
1210/1910 SAT’s (low combined score)
2 Varisty Sports, Worked as a Camp Counselor, 150 Community Service, Member of 2 clubs, Athletic Award

College Stats
3.85 GPA In the honor’s program at my CC.
Majoring in Liberal Arts and Humanities,
2 Good teacher recommendations
Member of two clubs, Working as a school tutor, Participated as a student representative, Model UN, President’s and Dean’s list both years.

Also, I dont have a Stats course completed but I plan on taking it over the summer. Would that be acceptable for Penn?

I’m not sure where everyone is getting the 5% from, but this is what Penn’s transfer site states:

“Each year approximately 175 students transfer into Penn’s four undergraduate schools, selected from over 2,000 applicants.”

Even if 175 students were ACCEPTED for transfer, that would be about a 9% acceptance rate (if there were exactly 2000 applicants). But it doesn’t say that 175 students were ACCEPTED; “each year 175 students TRANSFER.” If 100% of students who are accepted matriculate, then the 9% acceptance rate (or maybe even 5%) would make sense. While I’m sure a good percentage of students who are accepted as transfers decide to matriculate, it’s virtually impossible for every single person to. So I would agree that the transfer acceptance rate is 19.5%.

Has anyone submitted their common app/supplement yet?

what if you still want to major in econ but you dont want to take chances and apply to wharton? but you will apply to CAS for econ instead but i heard that the econ at CAS is very liveral-artsy & theoretical but you could still take classes at wharton…i think.

Also, just an fyi from the PENN site they say wharton prefers sophomores transfers vs. jr transfers :/

I’m applying!

High School:
3.4
29 ACT
7 AP’s

College, current sophomore:
3.95
Political Science Major
In Honors Program
Founder of 2 clubs/ Internship
URM

Sent in the apps and all my records. Does anyone know anything about the transfer interview?

There is no transfer interview?

For you prospective transfers out there, I have an important question:

“At least one full year of transferable academic coursework (8 semester courses) must be completed by the close of the spring term prior to the September of anticipated enrollment at Penn.”

Does this mean if you do not take 8 classes in sync with Penn’s (CAS/SEAS/Wharton/etc) curriculum, you will get automatically declined?

^ I would like to know the answer to that too. Thanks.

I got an email saying I havent turned in my CommonApp. Which is funny because they should not have my email address from any documents I’ve submitted.

I should be submitting my App in the next few days.

Penn sends out decisions the day before a couple of my final exams. I am probably not going to check until after, but that 1 day wait through exams is going to be INTENSE.

Is anyone else seeing a long list of “not satisfied” on their Penn Applicant Portal? Is this because they’re not processing transfer apps until after the deadline?

don’t worry. at first, my MyPenn account said all my materials were outstanding, even though i had sent them in weeks ahead of the deadline. but every few days i’m seeing the list get shorter and shorter, so it’s just a matter of processing. they’ll contact you if they really can’t find something.

so, is UPenn everyone’s top choice?? it’s tied with Johns Hopkins for me… both suit my interests really well.

I figured they might just be processing everything. Just seemed a little close to the deadline for things to still be outstanding.

Thanks, though.

How and when did you guys receive your MyPenn portal account information? I recently submitted my application on the CommonApp and have sent in all of the other required materials but have not heard anything. Thanks.

We are supposed to receive it after we submit our CommonApp.

But I haven’t gotten one either >:|

I got the email a couple days after submitting commonapp + supplement + payment.

Does anyone know the exact acceptance rate percentage for ASC communications major? or whether there is a difference of difficulty in comparison to the other schools?

Thanks :)
