Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

If I don’t get in anywhere else, I’ll have to stay at UChicago. Academically it’s a really good school, but I haven’t been happy here at all so I’m really hoping I can get out of here. What about you?

right now I’m thinking that if i don’t get in and the option is stay at U of Florida, id go study abroad for a year.

@Chris, I’ll either attend a UC for Economics or stay at my cc an additional semester. Cornell is the only private school to which I applied because it’s the only place I can really see myself fit…

So does anyone know if having Phi Theta Kappa will help financially? As I said above, I know someone who received an 8k scholarship for a different school. Do you think it’s worth having?

I’ll probably stay another semester at my current institution. Apply for the spring. Since most of the schools I’m applying to have spring transfers - Cornell/Washington University in St. Louis etc.

You’re all going to get in. This thread is going to be filled with worry for the next month and a half. Let’s not let the shadow of doubt reign over us.
If you’re worried, listen to “Ride a White Swan” by T-Rex on youtube. XD

@matisyahu, i took micro first semester and am taking macro now. I don’t know about calc vs. statistics but ILRgirl is probably right. I took stats in high school and got a 3 on the AP. You dont NEED the prerequisites to neccessarily get in, it’s just better to have them…but it won’t automatically disqualify you.

@youngjeezy, tyga is not a rapper hes a comedian.

If i don’t get in, I’ll stay at my SUNY for another semester and keep reapplying until I get in lol. And yeah, I mailed my mid-term report in, didn’t fax it. The lady at admissions said it was cool.

@ILRGirl- Some schools offer a scholarship for PTK-ers. Sarah Lawrence, for example, offers an automatic 10k for PTK members. It’s $50 a year, but worth it if your school offers a scholarship. Based on the research I’ve done on CU, they do not offer merit-based scholarships to transfer students- only need-based.

As far as the stats vs. calc question goes- you are required to have taken stats to graduate ILR. You are not, however, required to take calc (as someone mentioned). I would take stats, but make sure to keep your syllabus and even your tests because a stats prof at CU will evaluate the course you took to see if they want to accept your credits (that’s what I was told by a transfer advisor).

I got into SUNY Binghamton for financial economics. If I don’t get into ILR I’ll get a 5 year MBA from BU, or reapply for the MILR program.

Best of luck guys!

Does anyone know if they do phone interviews/informational phone calls for transfer students? I know a lot of the Freshmen applicants get that phone call, and was wondering if it was the same for transfers.

Also, how do you get informed if you were accepted or not. I know some people get phone calls while some get letters. Does anyone know how exactly this works?

Hey all, I applied for Biological Engineering!

@Der3k7 we seem to have really similar stats haha
Best of luck to everyone else!

I’m pretty sure they don’t do any phone interviews any more. As for acceptances, the FAQ website says via mail but I’ve heard that people get calls before they get accepted so I don’t know. Does anyone know for sure?

haha we do. Except my hs performance wasn’t as good as yours! I didn’t give much of a damn since I was focused on a bunch of non-academic stuff at the time.

They don’t do interviews for transfer students. They call you if they have any questions or problems.

@littleindia70, those are crazy good scores and grades.

@der3k7, high school was about non-academic stuff for a lot of lol

@der3k7 Well then it seems like college was a huge turn around for you especially based on your current stats.
@jimbo719 The statistics for the school of engineering are pretty scary so hopefully my scores/essays are convincing enough. Seems like there are very few spots offered.

Yeah it was, I mean I did reasonably well in high school. Just not like I do now. I spent a lot of time in performing arts in high school and spent hours after school every day training for dance. I wasn’t ready to dedicate the time to school and give up dancing.

are there any other hotel college transfers?
I’m really scared and i’d love to talk about it to other applicants!

my application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review!! I am a guaranteed transfer who has yet to submit a midterm report. Anybody else?

whoa where do you see that it was submitted for review? i’m a non-GT who has submitted everything but it doesn’t say that they have my midterm report yet even though i sent it over two weeks ago =</p>

my checklist disappeared. It now says:
“Your materials have been received. Your application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review.”

@something12345 Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean anything because the deadline for guaranteed transfers was February 1st and they aim to tell us at the end of March/beginning of April.

Ooh ok, thanks.
