Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

I applied to ILR as well. I submitted my midterm report abot 2 weeks ago, and it has said my application has been forwarded to the committee… uh oh.

I also applied to ILR. Is getting “the call” a good thing or a bad thing? I submitted my application right before the deadline and I am wondering if people get that call based on when they sent in their app.

ya i submitted mine like 2days before the deadline…i havent sent in my MT report yet but they forwarded mine to the committee already… i wouldnt worry about not getting one…i would have preferred not getting one lol

to all ILR APPILCANTS,
ILR will not be having phone interviews anymore.
Ian, the associate director of undergraduate admission, said, and I quote, “Also, that’s correct. We’re no longer doing interviews, but if any member of the committee has additional questions about your application, we’ll give you a call.”
Honestly, for those of you who have been confused because of what was said in CC, you should’ve taken the initiative to contact Ian because by now you should know that he is the one to turn to if you have any questions regarding to your ILR app.
If you don’t know his email address, which you can specifically look up on their website, just PM me and i’ll send it to you.

So if they are calling you regarding to your app, it’s probably because they have additional questions. It’s technically not an interview anymore.

But please, do share what they asked and how it went.
Good luck to you guys.

ya ian is the man haha…alright cool thanks…ya ill let you guys know what went down when I speak with them. I am curious as to what their motivation is for calling us, though.

Yea like a “there’s something strange about your app that needs a more in depth explanation” call, or a “we want to get to know you because we are planning on accepting you” call?

haha hopefully the latter, but the pessimist in me wants to say its the first one. I know ILR is HUGE on fit, so maybe they just want to affirm that we are a good fit? Idk whatever, I guess we’ll see. Good luck!!

WOOO application forwarded to review

Lol I only called the office for all my questions b/c I didn’t have the patience to email them… So I never got to speak to Ian…:stuck_out_tongue:

@youngjeezy
I agree… Cz it seems like only some of us are getting the call
Have you talked to them yet?!! I’m still nervous even if it’s not an interview!!!

Oh and I submitted my app the day of… Yeah I was very much on track!!!

sooo i just called the office back…
i honestly think it’s sort of like an interview though. because the lady whom i spoke to said that they’re not calling them interviews anymore but they still want to find out more about us. lol
unfortunately…she only set up an appointment with me soo. i won’t know what they’ll ask me 'till next week. hahh.

but please update me if anyone has spoken to an admission counselor already?

As for ILR interview, I don’t think it is a good or a bad thing. I think it is as simple as them looking for some more information on us.

I’m soooo nervous.

Going back to what we will do to celebrate if we get in, if i get in, I’m throwing a party and you’re all invited.

I did the interview for Spring '12 so ill let you guys know what to expect. Its honestly not something to freak about. Trust me. If they take on the interview approach, they’re just going to ask why you think you’re fit for ILR, what experiences led you to ILR, and ask if you have any questions for them. That’s what they asked when they had the interview. Its honestly a chill conversation, they’re really cool and you’ll be comfortable. Honestly, nothing to freak about. Just be honest and they’ll see if you’re sincere or not.
But then again, if they just have questions pertaining to your app, then just be honest.
Guys, nothing to freak about. I know this seems repetitive but be honest and everything will go well.
Good luck you guys. Let us know how it went!
And lols @Jimbo719. How about a party at ur place for ur folks and friends and another party @Cornell when we all get accepted and settled in cause the invites nice and all but what if we can’t go. So another party @Cornell where we’ll all be representing with the proper apparels, etc. Lols

lol sounds good to me, i hope we all have the opportunity to do that next semester.

how long would you say the “interview” was for you?

Hey just curious, but where is everyone from?
I live in Clearwater, Fl.
But I definitely say that if (hopefully) who ever does get in, we should have a meet/get drunk together party in the fall.

party sounds great
I am in Chicago, IL

Well, I was the one who did most of the talking. So it would depend on how much ur gnna say IF it is an “interview.” But 10mins, 15mins the most if u have a lot of questions.
Another tip, be short and simple because seeing that a lot of u guys got the call, they’re proababy talking to a lot. Don’t babble off.

I’m from NY

no i just set up the appointment to talk with Ian tomorrow morning, so ill let you guys know whats up. It’ll probably be exactly what qawsed because the receptionist said they just want to talk about the app and my interests. I am from los angeles, california…hahaha i dont know but it sure will be party time!

I’m from NY also.

Good luck, youngjeezy, I’m going tomorrow morn also.

I didn’t receive the call from Ian. Let us know how it goes though!

I’m from San Diego, California and I’m going to celebrate with my bf of 3 years if admitted. Unless he gets into Ithaca College and chooses to attend, we will have a long-distance relationship.

hey guys since this is coming closer and closer to the end, i feel like getting to know whoever wants to better. feel free to add me on Facebook. Redirecting...
