Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

^ This. It’s totally fine. One of their admissions officers told me prereqs can even be completed in the summer before transferring. Just try to get them done as early as possible. If someone is missing just one it shouldn’t be a big a deal.

Thank you ILRgirl and Maconn.

Applyng transfer to ILR

GPA: 3.97 (71 credits) honors, phi theta kappa
Essay indicates my desire to enter the realm of international law. Cery specific about how ILR will prepare me for such a field and for law school. Also made a point that my experience as a worker has lead me to a certain appreciation for labor laws and a curiousity to other nations’ labor laws and how they pertain to globalization. Among other stuff. Hope I was convincing!!

are you transferring as a junior? where are you right now? and do you have other ec’s?

yes and yes. Nassau Community College. I volunteer for a community organiationthat cmbats the growing epidemic of prescription pill and heroin abuse on Long Island. Also, I am an active team leader in American Cancer Society (my mother lost her battle to breast cancer last year). I also work two jobs currently. i am a supervisor/foreman for a carpet cleanign company and I work part time at Sears as well. I took two years off from high school as I was not on a great path for much of my high school career. I grew up in an oppresive home environment with, at times, severe financial hardship. I was ractically homeless lol. But thats a long time ago. I’m 22 now and I’ve been doing particularly well for the past 3 years.

im assuming you have very strong essays, and your gpa is exactly where it should be! so i’d say you definitely have a very good shot!! Im pretty sure cornell gives preference to community college transfers so i don’t think the time off should hurt you

thanks for the encouragement. Good Luck!!

Hey Fly, best of luck man.
If we get rejected for the Fall, can we apply again for the Spring?

Good luck Fly!!

Yes, Matisyahu, you can. I’m not sure if it changes your chances for the next time around though.

Do we have any GTs on this thread?!

Not sure about your GT question, but for everybody else, cornell replied to my email (very impressed with their promptness!!) so in case you guys had similar questions, here’s what they sent me:

The answer to your first question is an emphatic no. Admission to Cornell is completely need-blind, which means my colleagues in Undergraduate Admissions don’t look at (and usually don’t know) whether you’ve applied for or are eligible for aid.

Regarding late aid applications, we do indeed require both the FAFSA and CSS Profile to be completed before we can provide you with an aid decision. However, we continue to accept aid applications without penalty even after the deadline — although we cannot guarantee that late applicants will receive an aid decision at the same time as their admissions decision.

I hope this answers your questions. Should you have any other financial aid concerns, please feel free to contact us again. In the meantime, good luck with your college search, and thank you for considering Cornell!

Thanks Chris for providing us with that information! I was wondering the same thing.

When you guys check your app status, has Cornell receive your materials? If so, when did you submit stuff? I’m getting a little worried, I submitted my common app/supplement on the 12th, sent in my transcripts the very beginning of Feb and sent all of my other forms by the 19th, but it only says they have my app and supplement so far!

For me they have everything besides my college report and midterm grades.
My college transcript and college report were sent out on 02/08.
My midterm i sent out last thursday (hasn’t arrived).
My high school transcript was sent out beginning of february.
and my instructor evaluations i sent out 02/07

also, once the first thing came in, the others soon followed

When did you submit your app? When did the things show up?

sent in my app/supplement on feb. 5th, the first stuff started showing up as received at least 2 weeks later

ooh okay, you sent in your stuff much earlier than I did. I hope it shows up this week! Also, I noticed that SATs aren’t on my checklist, how do I see if they received them?

would anyone be willing to read my extra curricular essay?

I woulddd, PM me it!
