Hey guys. I mentioned this before, but I have a “C” in one of the subject in my mid year report. Luckily it is not a requirementment course, but it is recommendated course. I had a conflict whether to send a note the reason why I got a “C” because it is really unexpected circumstance and I shouldn’t have at least a “B” right now. So I sent note explaining why I have a “C” right now and how can I improve my grade. I’m also very anxious sending lots of notes to college. For additional essay in the common app, I mentioned withrawing two course because of medical surgury and I withdrew one course this semester and added another course because I don’t the context of the course, so I sent a note about that also. I just sent another note, so I don’t know how will they evaluate my transcript… I’m little bit concerned…

This is the note I sent to the Cals admission office.

Hello I’m writing an official statement about the reason of getting a “C” in one of my course. The course that I got a “C” is CHE100, Introduction to Chemistry. That class quiz and exams are taken online. I was taking my exam few weeks ago and there was an unexpected error on the testing system and the exam was automatically submitted without saving above half of the answers. That resulted getting a “F” (40%) on the exam and I explained this situation to the professor, but she refused giving me an another chance to retake the exam because it is unfair for other student and also my fault of taking the test on the place that had weak internet connection. It is true the internet signal was weak at the morning, but I never thought error would occur during the exam. My possible grade for the exam was suppose to be about 90%. I was very disappointed of getting a very low grade on the exam, but I know it is my fault and because of the mistake, I decided to spend more time in this subject to make up my mistake. During the previous semesters, I had two subjects that I had “C” for the mid term grade because of lacking understanding of the subject, but ended up getting an “A” for final grade. The instructor comment that some low grade will drop on my mid year report and my grade is currently rising which I can promise ending up this course with getting an “A” grade and I will also find possible extra credit opportunity to raise up my grade as high as possible. Thank you for time and understanding.

for CALS u didnt have to send in ur SAT scores but did ppl send it in anyways? I feel lik i shouldnt cuz my score was not as high as others. do u think it will hurt my chances? i got a 2040 btw

@collegedyp just email the admissions on the changes; that’s what I was told by them and I did it. But, it was under a different email tho, so email the admissions beforehand.

@Kane, I don’t think that will help or hurt your application, plus they aren’t required. I think CALS average SAT for freshman is 1370/1600 (CR+M) if I remember correctly.

@JK018, I feel like you should have had that letter edited because it’s grammatically unsound, and comes off as more of an excuse than an explanation.

When you transfer credits from current institution to Cornell, can you pick specific courses that you want to transfer on your own? (let’s say you have more than 60 credits)

@Collegedyp, I imagine the registrar decides, and if you have more than 60 credits that are eligible for transfer, then they probably pick which ones will put you as far ahead in your major as possible. I am not too sure about this to be honest.

@lilpsyco1 I called them and was transferred over to processing, but the lady was such a . She told me to hold on and wait until early april and then they will contact me if I’m missing any information. Some ppl get notified in April and I may not even get reviewed until April. this is such bull. What did you say for them to look your information up? The lady at processing didnot help me at all!

@Kane, lol relax. Try calling at another time and maybe some other lady will help. I think you will start to be reviewed without the missing items, and then they are requested.

@Kane402. You had the exact problem I had haha. I explained that I sent them in february, and after some awkward silence she basically said “what do you want me to do it about it” and then proceeded to tell me to wait until april 1st.

Call them again, and if they are not helpful ask very nicely to be transferred to processing. Once I talked to a lady in processing she was so nice, and my High school transcript was in a completely wrong folder because it was the first thing they received. I would keep calling and if you get the same person…just hang up and try again :)

@Kane402, Just explain the circumstances and ask if there is anyway that it could have been “misplaces”. Stress that its the only thing missing on your application and you sent it in early.

ILR applicant here, just finished my midterm report:

ECON101 (Intro to Microeconomics) - A (No comment)

INTD105 (Freshman writing seminar) - A (Excellent participation and assignments)

ACCT102 (Intro to Financial Accounting) - B+ (Excellent participation both inside and outside of class. Very active and positive learning attitude. Interacts with instructor well in class.)

PLSC120 (Comparative Politics) - A (Outstanding student)

I’m sending this tomorrow… best of luck to everyone else applying!

Just curious…I have sent my college official report with my college transcript (I believe, it should be even in one envelope) - however, only college official report is checked off, whereas the college transcript box is empty. Anyone else has experienced that?

I have called them, but I didn’t get anything specific feedback.

I think economics is a big part in ILR. But I got B- in microeconomics which I took in my first quarter as a freshman. But I got A+ in macroeconomics during the second quarter…
Would the B- be a red flag?

I just mailed off my midterm report today, so hopefully they forward it to the admissions board because that’ll help my application.

Also, I’m using an AP Psych score to fulfill one of my CALS requirements. I self-reported it on the common app but didn’t send the official score report. Of course, I would send it if I were to be accepted. Do you think this is okay? I just emailed them about it since I saw someone say that they think it should be sent.
