Another good thing to do is keep an eye on the Cornell Daily Sun (Well, it’s fun to keep up with, anyway…). If you happen to be a fearless Republican like me, check out The Cornell Review…its the conservative newspaper on campus (shameless plug…I write for them).

(Brief sidebar…I hope this post-barrage isn’t ****ing anyone off…if so, I’m sorry, and refer to post #160) I don’t know if any of you guys do this, but one of the things I did from the time I applied to the time I arrived was CONSTANTLY look at pictures of CU on Google Earth. It’s how I roll…I stalk from SPACE.

Drumroll…15!!! Which is awesome, because frankly I’m running out of stuff to talk about. All I can say to everyone is don’t freak out about it…OK, I really shouldn’t say that. I could think of NOTHING ELSE for 4 months. Just know that you all have a great chance at getting in judging by your stats, and you KNOW that or wouldn’t have applied, amiright?

OK!!! So if anyone has anything they want to know about the school, or my experience, or which dining hall has the best food (Pizza at the Ivy Room in Willard Strait Hall for the win), please don’t hesitate to PM me! I’ll also keep this thread in my browser window to keep up with everyone. GOOD LUCK!!!

Lmao @mn6290. Thank you for all the updates.

I actually prefer the french fries from bethe hall ;)

Hot Truck, CTB, or a nice bleu cheese bacon burger from Jack’s…great, now I’m hungry. Thanks, SMRSMR lol…

Hey SMRSMR, is it possible for you to read my essay?
My email is blueship02 at gmail, so give a email, so I will reply back.

Haha so many people asking for essay readings, but I am happy to do it! Plus it’s a nice break from all my studying. I sent you an email jk1018.

Hey everyone! I’m applying to the College of Arts and Sciences, and my intended major is archaeology. I was admitted to my second choice college, the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, two years ago- so hopefully this time things work out with CAS.

@app2013, its very impressive that you were originally admitted to AAP. Why didnt you end up going? Also do you care to share your current stats?

Freshman at SUNY Geneseo studying Political Science

Applying to transfer to: ILR
HS GPA: 3.35/4.00
GPA: 3.9/4.00
Recommendation: 1 professor

Took an upper-level labor relations/history class, got an A, and I really enjoyed it. I’m getting my recommendation from that class’ professor. I’m confident, though I’m still pretty anxious.

I applied for the Fall 2012 term at Cornell’s Arts and Sciences, but was unfortunately rejected. I think it was because of my low SAT scores (1800) – SAT IIs (Math II - 670, Spanish Reading - 700). I’m also from Ithaca (born and raised), and my father came here for grad school (from South Korea).

Well, at the time I was thinking that I wanted to study either physics or a social science at university, and while I was interested in the URS major in AAP, I felt more comfortable enrolling at a school where I wouldn’t have to apply for an internal transfer to study exactly what I wanted to study. I love Ithaca though, it’s such a beautiful place. And the people that I met there were wonderful.

My stats:
Second year, University of California
GPA: 3.85
Units: 75 (20 from IB credit, 9 from credits earned at other institutions)
Units this term: 17

HS GPA: 3.96/4.78
ACT: 35
SAT II Math Level 2: 800
SAT II US History: 790

@App2013, your stats are impeccable, and reasons for transfer are solid. I think you have a good chance.

@Ravidrim, if I read correctly, you are applying as a sophomore transfer. In this case, they will take into account your HS record heavily, so make sure you write great essays. Good luck.

My HS stats aren’t fantastic, but they’re decent. I have great essays, and I was tactful in my discussion to transfer to Cornell. I went through four drafts for each essay (i.e. the Common App and the Cornell supplement essays) and had my labor professor look over it throughout the entire process.

I actually called ILR admissions, and they said that the college stats/essays are more important than HS stats. At any rate, I hope I get in!

Thanks! Hopefully my essays work out. Good luck to you!

@Ravidrim, I didn’t mean to discourage you. The fact that you have been showing interest to ILR and have been taking relevant courses will go a long way. With great essays you have a good shot!

I’m applying as a transfer to Arts & Sciences for Italian

I’m a Williams College Freshman
GPA: 3.5 >.<
SAT: 2230
ACT: 34
Math 2: 800
Bio M: 750
High school rank: 1/197
AP Scholar with Honors, IB Diploma

I’ve been really involved on campus as the Treasurer of Freshman Council, Chief Financial Officer of the Investment Group, Member of QSU, Co-Founder of the Fashion Blog/Fashion Magazine, tutor at the local elementary school, and now admissions tour guide.

I’m a first generation college student, I would love to go to a more gay friendly school, and I just found out Williams was cutting their Italian department to 2 classes…and I already placed out of them…ugh. I also bowled in the Teen Masters competition & Cornell has a bowling team lolz

@ItaStallion, your stats are good, if the 3.5 GPA is for college is on the low side, but you’re not out of the running at all. Good luck!

Anyone know if midterm reports have to be sent by each prof or if midterm transcript is ok? I’m doing transfer option to cals, bio major.

@Zachary, I think you should ask CALS directly. I think the midterm transcript will probably be fine though, but just to make sure, ask them.
