**Official Fall 2014 Brown Transfer Thread**

Thought I’d get this thread started for discussion and eventual decisions. Any prospective Brunonians out there? :D

Yep! Hey there

Likewise :)

Transfer alumnus here. If you have any questions about a good application or life as a transfer, I’d be glad to assist.(PM me…I never check that message board thing…)

So I’m a bit confused as to which of the Registrar Report, Mid-Term Report, and two (2) Academic Evaluations we are supposed to do online on the CA and which we are supposed to mail in? I get the sense that the CA “Assign Recommenders” section is designed for freshman. Could someone help me out with this process? Thanks!

Hey @gambon111,

Both the Registrar Report and Academic Evaluations are to be completed online. This can be done by adding recommenders and designating them as Registrars or Academic Evaluators (Professors). Both forms are to be used by transfer applicants.

The Mid-Term report will remain offline for the first year of CA4. You must print it out and take it to each professor for them to fill out, and then scan it and submit it to each college. Hope this helps!

I have another question, but it’s probably more difficult for you guys to answer. If I graduated from high school almost five years ago, do you think it is still expected that I supply a final secondary school report? If so, is this report generally just filled out by the person who signs your secondary school transcript? I’m not really sure who I would contact to fill this form out.

@gambon111: I would contact Brown and ask them what they want from this form. If it’s just proof that you attended the school and that this is your transcript, that should be easy enough. They will realize that you’re 5 years out from graduation and that your recent activity says a lot more about you.

Hmm, send them an email, along with the fact that I obtained my high school diploma through an independent study program, and this is the reply i got:

“We’ll need your high school transcript, and any other transcript you may have. If you have studied independently, please try to describe as fully as possible what you have done in a letter.”

Do you take this to mean they don’t expect a final report from me?

Yes, sounds like the high school transcript will do.

Late to the party.

hiya
Where’s everybody transferring from?

I noticed that on the Brown transfer page it says 2 recommendations are required, while on the CA it says one. I imagine the former is the safer option, but just wondered what you guys would do if you had 1 teacher that didn’t know you very well (but you did well in her class), and one teacher that knows you really well. Would you still send both?

I’d send both in that circumstance.

Our school uses quarter system and my second quarter ends at end of march. Should I just send them my final grades instead of mid-grades?

^I would call and ask them. End of March might be a little late but I know they don’t mind receiving the report later than the common app deadline.

Can anyone confirm this is the right address to send materials to? I looked on google maps street view and 198 Dyer St. looks like the continuing education building, not admissions. Also, why does the website say to leave out the street name and number (but include box number) when you send with USPS?

Brown University
Office of College Admission
Box 1876
198 Dyer St.
Providence, RI 02912

nevermind, confirmed myself. are transfer threads for brown usually this quiet?

I’m definitely planning on transferring- hope to see you all there in the fall!

woooop!

Has anyone received a confirmation email since submitting their application?
