I think we might get stuff to keep track of our credentials, but im not sure. i hope the admit rate is higher this year..

What were your stats?

i actually applied as a freshman last year, but from what ive read, the transfer rate was supposedly 5% in the most recent round of transfer admissions.

i applied in late february or early march for junior transfer admissions with a 3.9 GPA at UW-Madison. this is actually my second time applying to brown as a transfer. I have yet to receive any snail mail confirming my application materials, and whenever I call the admissions office they always say they got my app's parts 1, 1a, and 2, both letters of rec, sat scores, and dean's letter, but they haven't received my app's fee or part 3 (personal statement).

has anyone else who applied heard anything back from brown?
can we check our transfer application's status online somehow?

I think that we just have to wait for the letter before we can check anything on line...i havent gotten anything either. I think we should be getting the acknowledements pretty soon...

Brown seems to be quite disorganized.... I haven't received any confirmation of my application yet, but more than that, they no longer have any one operating the admissions office phone!

they might not take any transfers.

I don't know why you'd say that. First of all, last year's sudden drop in transfer admission caused an upset, so I really can't imagine that they'd lower it even more.

And also, if they weren't going to take any, I think they would have made that clear, especially with the cost of applying at 70 bones.

well they CAN choose to not accept anyone because none of the applicants meet their expectations XD

I find that HIGHLY unlikely.... brown is a university of a significant size and they are going to have open beds because people will leave, go abroad etc it doesn't make any sense for them not to fill open spots they may have

Right, and from what I hear, that's basically what it all comes down to. If they've got a ton of rooms, our prospects are good.

what are the chances of getting into brown from a school such as ucsd...rather than maybe a community college with the same stats?

It depends more on your stats and recs than your school.

lol, I was just half-way kidding.

However, it would explain the half-hearted app, the lack of online applyyourself submission, the absence of someone to direct transfer admission questions, etc. :(

Yeah, all that is true, but their website says they accept roughly 200 transfers a year—a figure that may have been accurate at some point in time, but most likely no longer applies). Regardless, the fact that that they project that figure implies that they typically DO accept transfers...

Just got the login/password.
