I also received that email. I’m sure it’s nothing. Where else are y’all applying?

@letter95 Nowhere, which is reflected in my application - hopefully it makes a difference!

@MYOMO Yaaa

By the way… How do we check our decision?

Their website says decisions will begin early May. Scary how only a lucky 25-50 of us will be offered admission…

@MYOMOO, I don’t think College Confidential will let me link you the page, but you can google “Dartmouth check application status” and it should be the first link. You should have received an e-mail with a username and password; if not, just click the “Log-in to check or…” link and then look for “Need your username and password?” and you will be able to acquire it. I believe admission decisions will be offered online in early May, as letters95 stated.

Anyone have any insight as to what the exact date might be?
Lyk r we thinkin May 1st type-deal, or circa May 5th-10th?

Also– @Discodruid1100 do you think that applying exclusively to Dartmouth is a plus? I did as well, and I totally get the logic: if you get in you are pretty much certain to matriculate…and thus a better yield; I’m just not sure if there is enough leeway in the admissions process for that to be a factor of consideration.

Also also also: Prospective majors- anyone? I’m doing Music Performance and Economics double, I tink’.

Also if anyone wants to just talk about DMouth, how they feel about their app, thoughts on the school, etc. MESSAGE ME! Srsly.

@SemperModestia I think so! If you’re a competitive applicant - as competitive as anyone else that they would accept - I think it could bump you from the wait-list to an accept, or at least make them more partial to you. It surely wouldn’t make up for any aspect of an application that might be lacking, though. I think it demonstrates interest more than anything. I don’t want to go to “an ivy-league school,” or a top LAC. I want to go to Dartmouth, and no other institution is worth packing up my life and hauling my ass across the country for. It’s not the name, or the prestige - I can get that anywhere. I can get that at my current school. What I want, I can only get at Dartmouth.
See what I’m saying? I don’t see why that isn’t a compelling reason to accept someone. Also, I’m a declared Classics major at my current institution, and I’ll be continuing those studies at Dartmouth if accepted.

I got that email too. Is anyone else having problems with the financial aid office? I have sent in my documents multiply times via email and they keep saying that they haven’t received them and I need to submit the documents–oh well just have to keep trying.
D-Day is approaching fast we are almost through the month of April and by May 1 we should expect our acceptance or rejection email. I try not to think on it too much as I have final exams in may and it can be very distracting. I have to keep up that GPA just incase I get accepted. If I do get accepted it would be nice to link up with the other people on this forum who also got accepted, seeing that we will all be new to the school and will need some friends.

somanytruestatements @Jevano. Regardless of the outcome I’m going to be really distracted during finals week. And yeah the Financial Aid stuff can be really difficult – you just have to be persistent with them and keep in mind that even though it is required information, it is secondary compared to your application materials.

Also did anyone send in a midterm report? Additional supplements?

@SemperModestia I did send in a Mid-Term Report, but it was not asked of me. I just thought it would be a strong addition to my application, so I made sure to send it in once it was complete. I did not send any additional supplements; I was told by an admissions officer that Dartmouth is not accepting any arts supplements from transfer applicants, otherwise I would absolutely have sent one in.

@SemperModestia I was considering whether or not to send it that report, but at that time it was still early on in the semester and I hadn’t done any graded work. I have now completed all my mid semester assignments and the results are excellent. I am on track for four As and a pass and I made the Dean’s list. Do you think I can still send in the report or is it too late?

So… any updates?

Any news / updates / anything interesting yet? (this might be a re-post, site is odd)

Any news / updates / anything interesting yet? (this might be a re-post, site is odd)

nope none that i know of

Oh that was a three-peat repost. Glorious. I was only expecting to post twice.

Does Dartmouth consider your intended major when making decisions or is it all about the quality of the candidate? What’s everyone here applying to? I did Mathematical and Social Sciences, Sociology, and Economics (first to last choices).

Well from what I get from what they have on the transfer site, they look to see which applicant would “hit the ground rounding” the best. So I suppose if you are currently doing say History but you want to study math they would hold that against you. Keep in mind also that courses like economics and maths are very popular at Dartmouth so they already have a lot of students doing those courses so they have to worry about class sizes. I applied for Economics, History and International Relation in that order.
