Since we are closing in on freshman decisions for Fall of 2014, I thought I'd start this thread so we could all be anxious and nervous freaks together while we wait! I don't want to make it exclusively for those who are accepted though because we know sometimes the schools DO get it wrong, so feel free to discuss your high school achievements, schools you've applied/gotten into, and what you would do if you get into UW!

And don't forget to post your decision once you get it!

Has anyone actually heard back yet? I have one friend who heard back in January, any reason why he would have been notified so early?

If he got rejected, he may not have met basic requirements (such as the CADR), thus his application was rejected outright and not comprehensively reviewed. If he was accepted, that would be a unique situation. I’ve never heard of that happening before.

Actually, he was waitlisted. Interesting.

Wow, that is really odd…was he a transfer or freshman applicant?

It says on my status that once a decision is made I’ll be notified by postal mail. I’m just wondering here, will they send me an email first of the decision if I’m an international applicant? Or I’d probably just have to wait…till late march to know everything

In the past, I’ve read that no matter what they mail your decision for all applicants. Domestic or International

@charlesfries, that is definitely odd. Your friend could call UW admissions and ask what’s up…I know I’m curious to know what happened there

He was notified he was waitlisted by email. If this matters, he did submit his application the day it opened.

I also applied the day it opened, I haven’t heard anything yet and I’m anticipating getting accepted…

Oh man. Getting a postal mail seems like such a long wait. I’d probably get a decision 10-12 days after the scheduled time(since I’m an international student)

I heard you can figure out early if you go to your MyUW account —> Admissions —> After Being Admitted —> Unofficial Transcript.

It’ll show UW Seattle there when you are accepted…currently mine says UW Bothell(applied there too, got accepted)

hmm, it says that the page cannot be displayed.

Yes, this is the “unofficial transcript trick”. If you’ve never been to UW before and you haven’t applied to any of the other UW campuses, your unofficial transcript will not load: it will say “this page cannot be displayed”. If it eventually does display around or just before decisions are due out, that basically means you were accepted.

Pretty much what Candela said. In the past it used to load around now, March 11 or 12. But in last years thread it didn’t work and a lot of people got their letters before their unofficial transcripts even loaded; Which makes me skeptical that they might not be doing the Transcript thing.

Who knows when are we getting our decisions?

It’s between March 15-31. But very few people get theirs in the first few days. Since this year the 15th is on a Saturday I expect some people to get their decisions on the 18 or 19. Are you OOS and if so what state?

My acceptance letter was in a form of email. I learned about the offer in early Feb.( It is for grad school though).

Oh well that’s a lot different than Undergrad… Congratulations on your achievement though! I hope I can get into a good grad school too

I thought that decisions are sent out in mid June. I remember when my unofficial transcript appeared on myuw account.
