Good luck to everyone who is anxiously awaiting the news! My son has heard back from all his other schools but he is still waiting for his #1 choice, UW…I’m getting so nervous for him. Wait until one person gets their big envelope…then we will all be freaking out and checking the mail looking for ours! Exciting but stressful time for all kids and parents.

Im in texas does anyone have a guess as to when ill get my letter?

@puckerfence - I would imagine maybe a couple of days after the instate people have received their notification in the mail…hopefully all “big” envelopes.

For those of you trying to view your unofficial transcripts, I would try tonight around eight when the system updates. I was accepted for winter, and those of us who were in the first batch of acceptances actually had our transcripts load on a Friday evening just before the notification period began. UW is a fantastic school, so good luck to all of you who are impatiently waiting!

Just want to be clear. If it loads your in? If not then you don’t know?

Thanks for the information @Jsmith210! So about 4 more hours for me. And @puckerfence I’m from Texas too. I think they send them out in waves so it could be anywhere from Monday to the end. It’s not really a set time from my understanding

@ Paolaa: I have yet to hear of anyone having a transcript load that didn’t get in. Admissions told me the first time I asked that it was not indicative of anything, but then I got a very sympathetic admissions counselor who told me that he couldn’t say anything, but it was a very good thing. Its a very large school with around 40,000 students (roughly) I doubt they would waste time creating transcripts for people they didn’t intend to offer admission to. Hope that was somewhat reassuring, good luck!

Thanks for the tip Jsmith210! Keeping fingers and toes crossed…boy would it be great to see that tonight!

@LonghornNation - I’m from California, so we’re also on Pacific Standard Time! (it’s 5:08 right now)

And if it’s true that the unofficial transcripts will be updated tonight, is there any pattern as to what wave each applicant will end up in? (eg: by location, surname, major, etc.) Thanks for the update!

Does anyone know if the unofficial transcripts will be updated at midnight tonight?

@Charlesfries read back in this thread it was was mentioned what time they update the systems. And As far as the patterns goes I’m not to sure.

Just so you know, the acceptance letter is not big, just a regular sized envelope but with a paw print on it and I think itay say Congratulations. Just saying so you don’t freak out. Good luck!

@raincat I heard that it said “The Big Envelope” on the front

@charlesfries, I don’t know how it works for freshmen, but many transfers last year got a small envelope saying congratulations, then they got “the big envelope” a day or two later. Some people got only the big envelope though.

Yes Charlesfries, it does. My memory is terrible! My son is actually waiting/hoping for his second small Big Envelope. Admitted last year but took a gap year and UW does not defer. So kind of risky but the right decision for him. We are in-state at least, but it’s all about the current applicant pool so no guarantees.

I visited UW today as my mother had some work to do with some guys at the wind tunnel. Both parents went there for Aerospace Engineering, and I’m thinking of doing the same or Electrical or Compsci or whatever. Anyway, what the admissions person at the Aero department there said was that they are having a backlog of applications since this year is a record year for both apps and acceptances. It sounds like a small wave of decisions goes out soon but most likely most of them will be going out toward the end of March. I was also told that ~800 people applied with Aero listed as the major and that I was within the top 100, and she also had read my essays (a great sign!) but said she wasn’t responsible for knowing if I got in. Since I got rejected from Caltech, UW is now my #1 choice, so I’m waiting with all you guys.

I originally got a standard sized, purple envelope saying congrats. I got my big envelope several months later. The Honors program acceptance letter is in a standard sized, white envelope. This was back when UW was on a rolling admissions system, though.

Waitlist and rejection mail is a standard sized, white envelope.

whoo im shooting for Monday! fingers crossed!

I’m shooting for at least Friday if not Next monday the 24th

I’m shooting for tonight at 8pm online, then all-day tomorrow, and then to Monday! (I am a VERY optimistic person, so it’s natural!) :)
