COMMENTS:

Wrote my essay about my passion for cancer research and the amazing research that is going on at Cornell

@Andypopins I will be honest with you because that is what I would like others to be when chancing my app.

Pros: GPA-well done
orchestra leadership-well done
Sport leadership-well done
Cons:
I know that they do not require SATs so I don’t know if the lack of it would hurt you or not.
You don’t really seem to have done any leadership activities in your desired field and just a few ECs. ( I think that cancer research is a hard field to get ECs and leadership in so they might take that into consideration.)

Since you have good grades it will really depend on the classes you took (if they reflect your cancer research ambitions) and what was the nature of your Organic Synthesis research. And it will depend on your Essays. Also, it will depend on the class structure. You may be great at what you do, but it is possible that they just don’t need you.

@wellletshope it shows my AppID and it says “Our records do not show you as an accepted student in CALS”

It says exactly this on the top:
Your Major:
If you have any questions regarding the major you were accepted to, please contact CALS Admissions by email at cals_admissions@cornell.edu or by phone at 607.255.7688.

My friend from back home who is also applying to transfer into CAS called CAS admissions today to ask about decisions got a different answer from me. The lady she talked to said that CAS decisions will most likely be sent out towards the end of April and that notifications will be through email. In contrast, the rep I talked to said by the end of this week and through snail mail. The lady my friend talked to though apparently sounded a little unsure, and she said, “I think through email.” Just wanted to report. Has anyone else called?

@bulldogs3 you were already admitted and you even got your e-mail so thats a different story. I think @NN40801 asked about ppl who havent heard back yet. BTW bulldogs3 do you know what you had before you got your e-mail of admission?

@darshmark guaranteed transfer is a transfer agreement given to a select number of applicants that applied as seniors in high school but did not get in. Instead, they are given a guaranteed transfer, that is guaranteed if you a) go to a 2 or 4 year school for your freshman year before you transfer b) meet the specific Cornell school’s GPA requirement (ranging from 3.0-3.5) depending on the school and c) take the classes outlined in the GT. Although it may be disappointing to not get out right accepted senior year, it is certainly a good deal if Cornell is your dream school.

Also, it is only offered for the contract schools.

@william95 and @wellletshope, Thank you! I was not a GT. (Side note–that sounds like a very stressful process. Congrats to those GT’s hanging in there.) I’m in Arts and Sciences for English (concentration creative writing) and Gender Studies. I have a 3.8 at my current school and was top 10% at a rigorous high school. 2300 SAT. Plus, I’m very involved on campus at my college in several clubs. I hope that answers your questions!
