@da26990 Engineering majors be silent because we be crying as everyone gets accepted in other schools in Mid/Late April while we are left waiting until Late May/June in anticipation to get rejected with the beautiful 8% acceptance rate.

@ansci412 Thanks, that makes me feel better haha. I’m not worried about high school grades though, the only reason (in my opinion) i didn’t get in last year was because i didn’t have great extracurriculars, but I changed that this year.

@cali2387 You should be fine! Whatever you’re doing sounds great. If you don’t get in it definitely wont be because of your ECs.

Dear @cali2387 I think you are going to do great (In fact I am glad you are not AEM:))

I sure hope we hear tomorrow. I have a huge calc II test Friday that I have barely been able to study for -_-

I have exams next week and the only time I can study is outside office hours, because then I am not refreshing my inbox every second.

So I have been following this thread very regularly but never posted. But now I am getting really anxious and decided to jump on the bandwagon. haha

I am basically an international student currently enrolled outside of US and applying as Junior transfer to CALS for AEM major. Looking at the 2013 acceptance/rejection dates @wellletshope posted, I am getting paranoid since most of the acceptance came before 20 Apr. Also, when I log into the transeval I don’t see my major or my name.

In any case, I have already been accepted into UMich LS&A, which I honestly always wanted to attend. But an Ivy-label is always so tempting. :P

@wellletshope thank you i wanted to apply to AEM but decided against it since it’s extremely competitive. What’re your guys’ stats ( @ansci412 @wellletshope )?

@cali2387 I would die before majoring in AEM, I hate economics. I tried taking micro this semester and was like, nope & dropped the first day hahah

Current School: SUNY Orange Community (has an articulation agreement w/ CALS)
Current GPA: 3.32 - terrible - but I do have a B or better in every class they require AND recommend. In addition, they ask for “at least a 3.0” on the articulation letter agreement, though I know that my GPA is not much better than that!
ECs: Work part time as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital (~15-25 hrs/week), work at my school’s academic advising office also part time (~15 hrs/week), volunteer work at animal shelters (~5 hrs/week), President of Biology Club for one year (including now), research experience (including presenting biological research at a conference).
Essays: I felt were very strong, clearly demonstrated my interest and knowledge about the school, the program, and what they have to offer.
Recommendations: Two strong letters from English & Biology professors.

@banker92 Hey I’m on the same boat as you! Same here, applied to AEM but was really nervous about the competitiveness of that major. The wait is killing me… May I know your stats? :D

@cali2387
Applying:CALS AEM (rising sophomore)
Current School:Bachelor’s in Business and Econ. in continental Europe the University is highest ranked in social sciences
Current GPA: 3.75. (converted from EU grades so idk. because there is no official GPA on 4.0 scale here) (its high enough that I am an honors student)
Credits: 66 (ECTS)
High School GPA: I was going through some though stuff during high school . one of my high schools had no GPA but I did pretty badly (international) the other(US) I got 3.8(If I remember correctly)
SAT score:2080 (Math:740 CR690 WR:650) (2013Dec)
TOEFL:113/120
Essay: Its passionate and reasonable I guess. Maybe 8/10 I honestly don’t know.I talk about if mathematics is the language of the Universe, then Economics (an application of mathematics) is the language of society. (+ I explain what is that I am looking for at my new university that I don’t get at my current one, and why didn’t I just apply as a freshman a year ago)
EC: Debate/Speech (Founder and president of NGO, speaker for my delegation in European Parliament), Photography(Ambassador for cultural dialogue by an EU project) I had two businesses one in the US one in Europe. EDx courses. Business ventures. Gap year. Lots of jobs both in my field and just to pay the bills.
Comments: I show initiative to study at AEM. for example: My high school school did not offer economics so I bought the books and studied it myself and I took the exams with a result of 5/5

No good news today… Did you guys check your financial to do list? My FAFSA is still missing…

@william95 Did you get accepted yet?

@MYOMOO haha I wouldn’t imply that I will. I haven’t heard anything back yet

Alright guys Im off to sleep. Fingers crossed.

@william95 @wellletshope Hopefully we all get in… The later we are informed, the less chance of getting in…
