^ugh. Sorry u had 2 go thru all that. For future reference u may b able to qualify yourself as an independent student, tho i dont know the procedure.

@beaccepted2014 Yeah, I did file as an independent student. But they still wanted all that stuff from my parents in order to prove that I was an independent. It’s a whole mess of a system, in my opinion, that kind of excludes kids that have a less-than-ideal family situation.

@ansci412 @william95 I have already tried all I could. I called ALL SUNY schools I got accepted and they told me that there is no way to get an extension.

I explained that to the Cornell Admissions Officer my situation and she told me that I still have to wait since MANY students are in the same position. I really believe what she said about most Engineering applicants receiving decisions in June since my friend received his acceptance by last week of June in 2013. Well she basically said that if I was confident I’d get in, I would either wait for Cornell or commit to the other school and then regret if Cornell’s offer is convenient.

I guess I will commit to University at Buffalo, my 2nd choice. After all, they offered me a Full Financial Package so I would not have to borrow nor pay a single dime. I’ll reconsider Cornell for my Ph.D. if not accepted.

@engineeringboy Can you not deposit at Buffalo now and then just go to Cornell instead if you end up getting accepted in June? I know you’d lose your deposit but still

@william95 Yeah. That’s what Im planning to do. If Cornell’s Fin Aid Package is good enough, it will be worth to lose Buffalo deposit money.

@engineeringboy, actually, what william95 stated is what many people in your situation commonly do. Yes, losing the deposit sucks, but you don’t want to lose out a shot at Cornell or throw away your second choice in case you don’t get into Cornell. I’d say you should just put down the deposit for wherever you’d go if you do not get accepted by Cornell, and wait for Cornell’s response.

@engineeringboy UB is still a great choice. Especially for you because of the financial aid. They are a really well respected school and I think you’ll get as far with a degree from there as you would from Cornell.

16 hours 'till fireworks or Iwo Jima

Hahahaha @wellletshope

I am in a similar situation. I was accepted by the University of Toronto, and the deadline to accept my offer is May 1st. I sent an Email to ask for an extension but did not get a response yet.

Also, I believe, it’s unethical to pay for the double deposit, and it’s really serious. Some college may rescind the offer if they found someone made a double deposit.

@bflsdeab It’s not the same as double depositing since you wouldn’t have both deposits down at the same time, you’re not just putting two down to give yourself longer to decide. Instead you’re depositing where you plan to go but if you later on get a better option (in this case Cornell) then you withdraw from the original college and deposit at Cornell. It’s essentially the same thing you have to do if you get waitlisted at a school

So I finally got my decision page to show up, just shows the same time / date as everyone else

@william95 when did you get confirmation that your all materials were received? my application was completed on March 17th.

@william95 and did you apply for AEM or Economics?

@UofU2014Cornell My app was sent for review around the beginning of the last week of March and then I sent my midterm report in the first week of April. I applied for AEM.

@william95 Thanks for telling me that. Good luck tomorrow!

@william95 Thanks good luck to you!

@bflsdeab Thanks you too! What major / school did you apply to? I’ll add you to the list!

@UofU2014Cornell Same to you!

Do they do wait lists? Still trying to figure out why so few of us do not have decision dates.

I’m in a similar boat as a lot of you in terms of being accepted to other schools and waiting for both Cornell and Stanford (May 15th announcement). Since we all signed the Common Application’s agreement not to submit a deposit to more than one school–does anyone know if sending a deposit to a 2nd choice school while waiting on top schools to respond could backfire on us? I’ve been accepted into Michigan adn Texas’ computer science programs and I dont care about losing the deposit, just dont wanna lose the acceptance.
