@CollegeBlastoise it’s random. Doesn’t make a difference if you saw a slew of any one major.
Just got accepted today, extremely happy. I received the email about joining facebook just 30 mins before the decision posted. here is my stat
Major: Econ/Accounting
Gpa: 4.0
tag: nome
prerequisite: calc 2 in progress
igetc: will be done this spring semester
Ec: a lot, don’t get my start it
Applied : LA, CAL, SD, IR,and SB
Accepted : SD and SB so far.
Btw, I’m an international student if that helps. I was so anxious for the fact that I didn’t hear anything on Monday. After seeing people got into my major with the gpa around 3.2 to 3.3, I was shocked. Honestly, I was expected to be in the first batch but whatever. Good luck everyone
Great post @kyle2015
However, for those of you worrying about pre-reqs, I was admitted with a 3.47 GPA and 1 pre-req missing. I think a lot of you just need to take a breath, relax, and wait until your decision is posted instead of stressing yourselves out by trying to figure out how they base their acceptances.
Guys I have a question.
I am an Economics/Accounting major.
I already took Calculus 1 and Business Calculus and right now I am taking Calculus 2.
Is it true that I don’t need Calculus 2 if I already took Business Calculus since Business Calculus covers the requirement?
I am currently getting a B- in Calculus 2 right now and am debating whether or not I should drop it for a W instead.
@TonyStark93
At my school, bus calc fulfilled my math requirement, as did stats. Your particular CC should have a list of courses that fulfill igetc. Look there. It’s probably on Google. Also check Assist.org if you are talking about pre-reqs, as they show equivalences for pre reqs.
ACCEPTED on the 16th.
UC GPA: 3.82
IGETC:Yes
TAG: No
Major: Psychology and Anthropology
Pre-reqs:Completed all Spring 2014
Applied: Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Davis, Irvine, UCSB
Accepted: UCSB so far.
Activities: Tutor and TA for physiological and intro psychology, international club, badminton.
Awards: 2 CCC scholarships, dean’s list, Awards from work
Work history: assistant manager at food chain, teller at a bank, jamba juice, kfc, jc penney.
Essay: It was informal but it came from the heart. I talked about how I worked 2 jobs and went to school full time for 4 years. I also talked about my TA and research experience and how I want to be a professor and a researcher.
I thought bus Calc possibly fulfilled Calc 1, not Calc 2.
@lindyk8 Depends on schools you’re applying to/from. In my case, my CCC (Saddleback College)'s bus calc covers both UCSB’s 34a and 34b. But it only covers UCSD’s math 10a (calc 1).
@BCtoSB @lindyk8 @CollegeBlastoise
I did check between my school Coastline Community College and UCSB on assist for Econ/Accounting
For the Math portion it says Calculus 1 AND Calculus 2 OR Business Calculus
On the UCSB side it says Math 3A and 3B, OR Math 34A and 34B
So for my school theres no 2 part Business Calculus class, just a 1 whole Business Calculus. That’s why I’m confused.
@tonystark93 Your business calc covers both 34a and 34b. Here’s the proof:
@collegetoday @lbwaterpoloman I did really just get accepted yesterday early afternoon. I have been checking since Monday and it was updated yesterday on the portal. I didn’t receive an email.
@Manuel3 @ShuttlepilotND They’ve definitely started processing the CoE applications, but so far no one from my school has received an acceptance yet. They seem to just have rejected anyone who was missing prerequisites as that’s a quick way to screen out many of the applications. Acceptances will most likely come later.
I got accepted to UCSB for Psychology and am currently taking calculous, a pre requirement. However, I am in chemistry and philosophy, and I work and pay bills, and this is too demanding for my schedule. I think I am going to drop the calculous class. Honestly, I never want to take a math class (except for stats), again! I started from algebra one at my community college and worked my way up, taking trigonometry three times. Are there ANY exceptions for not having to complete that requirement, do you thing? I emailed admissions today asking and am waiting for a reply back, it would be tragic if my admission got taken away for a calculous requirement for Psychology. I just can’t do it, its too time and mental consuming. I don’t know how people even take that class. There is too much pressure and I don’t want to fail chemistry for killing myself over calculous.
I am waiting to hear back from UC Davis and UCLA, though. UCLA is my goal, but I am kind of nervous due to my lower GPA.
@ARandomPerson1 I’m missing calc and research psych and I applied as a pre psych major. My decision is still pending. Do you know for sure if they are rejecting applicants with missing pre reqs?
@CancelOut Oh no, my post was specifically referring to the applicants to the College of Engineering. UCSB’s CoE is notoriously strict with prerequisites nowadays (perhaps just as strict as UCLA/Berkeley when it comes to completing all of them). They might be a bit more lenient with L&S applicants.
@CancelOut I’m also missing calc and was accepted on the 16th as a pre psych major. What’s your GPA?
In my school, business calculous also have one and two. So you really need to ask counselor in your school.
I’m taking a 1.5 unit non-transferable class, and I’m falling behind. Does anyone think UCSB will rescind my acceptance if I drop this class or fail it? I’m also taking it PASS/NO PASS. Will that affect my acceptance too?
They don’t care about non-transferable.
@boy561 what major did you apply for at San Diego? and when did you hear back from them? I also got into SB as an Econ/Actg major. I got accepted on Monday but i’m waiting for UCSD to respond and I’m getting worried!!
