Official Fall 2015 William & Mary Transfer Thread

Hey all! Didn’t see any thread for specifically William & Mary transfer hopefuls, so I thought I’d get the ball rolling.
I’m looking to transfer from Sarah Lawrence College. I’m also applying to Brown and Wesleyan.
Here are some of my stats:

College GPA: 3.9 (projected, calculated by myself through a form given by the college. Grades aren’t a big thing here. It’s all about the written evaluations teachers give at the end of the semester)
HS GPA: 3.98

Chose to not submit standardized test scores.
AP: Comp Sci 5; English Lit 5; Euro History 4; Calc BC 5; Gov 4

High School ECs:
Editor of Literary Magazine
Organizer in French Club
Black Belt in Karate (also teaching classes)
Archery
Guitar Lessons
Soroptomist Award

College ECs:
Martial Arts Club (Self-Defense Leader)
Christian Union
Screenwriter’s Workshop
Yoga classes
Rock Climbing Club

Recommendations:
Writing Prof / Adviser
Latin Prof

Reasons for Transferring:
The school I’m at currently doesn’t have majors and only 3 classes a semester, so my studies are in Writing, Latin, and Anglo-Saxon Lit currently (and a film class last semester). Would love to explore archaeology and medieval studies which SLC doesn’t have much of. Socially, SLC has a small campus and student body. Not quite enough diversity for my taste.

Best of luck to all applying!

Whoops, I did submit standardized test scores.

SAT: 2010
ACT: 29

do they even accept many transfers"? UVA has a good transfer program – espeically for Viginia community college students, but does W&M take many transfers? Id like to know,

From what I could tell from being on campus, and judging from the stats given, W&M seems very welcome to accepting transfers. If you’re curious about Virginia community college students, there’s a guaranteed admission program that I highly suggest you look into. Personally, I’m not from VA. The most recent statistics I could find were the Fall & Spring 2014 transfer acceptance rates: Fall–40%; Spring–34%. If you’re looking for a head start on getting a feel for the school, I recommend attending one of the school’s transfer days. They have program specifically tailored for transfers including a tour, info session, and panels.

Accepted! Junior transfer and Business major! Good luck to you all

Accepted! Junior transfer and business major as well. Still waiting on McIntire and Georgetown!

Congrats to both of you, so exciting!!
Accepted! Sophomore transfer, archaeology & medieval studies. Waiting on Brown and Wesleyan. Good luck with other schools.

Accepted. Not going, though. Still waiting on Wesleyan, Bowdoin, and Middlebury. I wish I applied to Brown!

Congrats to all who were admitted today !! Curious , how did you learn the decision?

Accepted this evening as well! Sophomore transfer and math major. Also still waiting on a couple of schools.

Got accepted too

Transfer Psychology Major. I most likely won’t be going though because I got accepted into GMU and they’ll be paying for all of my tuition unlike the other schools I applied and got into (W&M, UVA, and VCU)

It’s nice to get acceptance letters from these schools though. Because I slacked off my whole high school career and finished with a 2.1 GPA. Worked my ass off in community college, finished with a 3.7 and these acceptance letters show me hard work does pay off :).

Good luck to everyone that does go to W&M, I would love to go as well but I just can’t afford it, I’ll just commute to GMU and settle with my tuition being fully covered.
