I’m going for 720 reading and 800 on other 2
Was the purpose of passage 2 to trace a phenomenon or demonstrate a method of economic analysis
i think i wrote to trace a phenomenon
Awesome, same.
Wasn’t the exact wording “to explain and analyze a phenomenon”?
Yeah… There was another answer on the test with the word phenomenon too. Something about a cultural phenomenon. I hope we’re not getting the two confused because I distinctly remember getting that word in my answers twice.
Crud I don’t remember that…ummmm it was probably in either the Iranian rug passage or the one about horror movies
Were the philosophy books supposed to be used a reference materials (vs. to be critically analyzed)?
analyzed was the answer
I initially thought it was analyzed because it seemed that way at the beginning but then in the third paragraph he said books should be mere guides
It said use the greatest books as references in that choice. He spoke of the flaws in looking to the “greater books” so that can’t be it I don’t think.
Does anyone know when the score will be released?
@xxjmodxx I agree with your reasoning, but the answer explains that the books would be used as reference guides to make your own ideas. I think the passage had a theme similar to Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “The American Scholar”, which points out the fact that books are useful for learning but the problem is that people just repeat facts that they read, so they don’t think for themselves and make their own ideas.
Im not sure, what does everybody else think?
reference guides mean that you kind of follow them. to analyze and be curious means to question and try to understand which is what the passage was saying. the passage is saying we should try to think rather than just blindly follow i agree with @xxjmodxx
also, the answer choice just said “to be used as reference guides” or something like that. “that the books would be used as reference guides to make your own ideas” the second part of that sentence is an assumption. analyze and be curious is the better answer
Well analyze and be curious wasn’t an answer choice. It was just critical analysis. Also, a reference guide means a reference book that you use in order to help guide your ideas. The whole paragraph about the weights was used to show that weights by themselves are useless but when you use them to your advantage they can be helpful. Sort of like a reference guide which is useless if you just repeat facts out of it, but it can be useful as a reference in order to make your own ideas. I see your point of the argument as well because both answers possibly correct depending on how you read the passage.
I must not be remmebering correctly. I know I put the choice with analysis in it.
I don’t think the answer choice said “critical analysis”
There was something that made me just completely think reference guides was wrong
