@Yagiboonjota Sure! I was put on the waitlist. Kind of bummed, but hopefully they will have a lower than expected yield.

Whoever admitted to SFS, could you post your stat? You must be way above the cut-off line and I am really curious.

@lumberjack

Nothing yet from sfs, right?

Nothing for now.

Is anyone who applied MSB have not heard back?

I’m in that boat and I’m really worried…:(

I’m actually really surprised I got into SFS! Especially so early?

I’m not going to go into too much detail but I had a 3.95 at my current university, a 3.7 in high school, and ~2100 sat. I got pretty involved in activities this year at my current university and I have a ton of volunteering etc. from high school. Honestly, I think my essays and recommendations are what got my in. I’m still really shocked!

Feel free not to answer this but do you mind telling me which college are you from?

Can you post the number of applicants and matriculants from the admissions letter?

a top 50 university and they didn’t include the transfer numbers for SFS in the letter :/

No, the letter does not differentiate the 4 colleges, but states the number for all applicants and slots available.

Please post those numbers to help everyone on this thread to get an idea of how competitive this years transfer group is; it’s very odd if they don’t include those stats.

^Some of the other accepted transfer students stated that there were 200 open spots this year. Last year there were around 170, I believe.

Hopefully SFS applicants will hear back tomorrow!

To Georgetown College

Congrats to those accepted to SFS, MSB, and the College and those who are waiting to hear back. This is my first time posting on CC, but I have been following this thread avidly for the past few months. I am awaiting my decision from SFS. I’ll technically be transferring in for my junior year, though according to the dean I spoke to, we all transfer in as ‘sophomores’. I applied from a top 50 school (in the Big 10) as a regional and comparative studies major. I applied to the College during high school but was rejected, and figured I’d knock again and see if that door would open this time.

Stats:
College GPA 3.7
HS GPA 3.8
ACT 30
APs: two 4s, one 5
Took a Georgetown course in the summer right after high school and got a B+ (International Relations). Interned that summer at Muslim civil rights group.
Worked next summer in D.C. for certain Arab country’s revolution (am Arab from that country).
Currently finishing up a semester in D.C., interning at top think tank.
Working as paid Arabic translator/consultant for media company.
Rowing crew.
President of interfaith group on campus.
Very active on Middle East stuff on Twitter.
A bunch of leadership positions in high school, plus a summer politics program at Georgetown.

I know exactly what I want from the program, my regional and research focus, thesis idea, etc. This is the only school I applied to, and I know that I want to be in D.C. So one could say that I put all my eggs in one basket. I am proud of my essays, and I had a great alumni interview, and got a chance to meet with the dean for SFS transfers. I pray this will work out for all of us.

I know it’s pretty late in the game to be posting stats and whatnot, but yolo, as they say. I talked to someone from admissions last week and told me that they will only be sending letters on June 1st or a few days earlier. He said that the only people that recieved letters had received them because they requested early reads. And I know that’s not exactly accurate, since I’m seeing some of you receive letters early on. These mixed messages are adding to the anxiety. I sure would (as all of you do) like to figure out what I’ll be doing this Fall! I really do appreciate you all and the fact that there is this medium to discuss and share.

Best of luck.

@Hisnamewasking

Welcome, and best of luck to you as well.
Cheers from a fellow SFS applicant.

Officialy accepted to georgetown msb!!!

Is there a transfer facebook group?

Is there a reason why the vast majority of transfers in this thread are MSB/SFS? Is the College just less transfer-friendly or is it solely because of business/int’l policy interests?

What’s wrong with Georgetown? Why still no decision? Has anyone heard from them since Monday?

No news for me. I take it as a negative sign. If you filter through older threads, Georgetown likes to send out rejections toward the end of May.
