Official Georgetown transfer thread fall 2013

Although I got admitted, am not sure if I will be enrolling due to my financial situation.Am international student and they offer limited aid to internationals…any ideas of scholarships…be it private and public scholarships? Thanks for the help

Hi everyone! Been monitoring this thread for a while now, and have decided to join in. Don’t give up if you are still waiting to hear your decision. From what I understand, the admission officers are broken down by the schools–so while MSB may have made all of their decisions, that doesn’t necessarily mean that NHS, SFS, and the College have. I think Georgetown has just moved their ‘normal’ decision waves to a bit later this year.

@SFSRules Good point. Georgetown is my dream school, I guess that’s why I have been so anxious and impatient about it.

It’s alright, we’re almost there!

Hey guys I was wondering what you guys thought about JHU? In terms of the learning environment and how the student body feels about the school? Also do you think think its relatively high ranking is due to its prominent graduate medical school or do you believe the undergraduate programs are really on par with other schools in the ranking vicinity of JHU?

I ask this because I am currently debating whether Rice or JHU would be a better fit for my undergraduate years.

I am afraid you’ve come to the Georgetown transfer thread. You can go to the following links for your inquiry

Cheers.

Have any College student heard back?

I have been following this thread for a while and from what I see there hasn’t been a rejection. Am I right?

so it seems like MSB made all the decision -_-; do you guys know how they will contact us if we are on wait list? i hope at least im on that list

How many people have heard from SFS? Is GT purposely pushing back the notification waves this year? Or have all acceptances been sent out?

^ I second @SFS1994’s question. I haven’t seen much response re: SFS here. What’s with the late admissions waves this year?

Im from SFS too and havent heard anything

I called a few days ago and a woman on the phone told me that no decision would be given before June 1st. Obviously, she has lied to me, considering the few who have been accepted on this thread. I’m feeling quite betrayed.

^ As someone already stated, the “no later than June 1st” statement is the correct response from GU. All accept/deny letters will have been sent out by June 1st. To say otherwise would create a fiasco for the admissions office dealing with all applicants.

Keep in mind the admissions office is not staffed 100% with faculty members. They are augmented with a swarm of students. And as of Apr 30th, students have been preparing for Finals; the last day for Finals was May 11. And as can be expected, with the end of the semester, nearly all GU students will leave campus for the summer. Without assistance from students, the admissions officers are left with the task to mail notifications out.

In addition, not all admissions officers are full-time faculty members, a hand full are grad students who also have to prepare for finals.

The waiting is difficult, but at this point, unless you have to send a deposit for another school, enjoy the summer and wait for June 1st. If you don’t hear anything by June 2nd, call the admissions office for a decision.

If you receive good news and accept the offer, I’m happy for you. If you receive bad news, life goes on and you’ll succeed in whatever endeavor you choose to focus on, regardless of attending GU or not.

@SFSRules, you are being the voice of reason. Everything you are saying is correct and great and if I was thinking correctly, I would accept what you are saying. But I am not. I want to be depressed and want to vent my depression and lack of hope.

^ LOL. I’m glad I never heard of this website until after I was accepted to GU or I would have been checking-in every 5 minutes too! But I do feel for you guys!

Fortunately for me, I was at a great school and was very content to graduate from there if GU had denied my application. As such, I didn’t pay attention to my mailbox and was surprised when the letter showed up.

@SFSRules
From your experience, does the admission committee typically send out rejections/waitlist towards the end of May?

Anyone else received news from SFS? One of the admission officers overlooking my application was away until this past Monday. Do you think that may have caused the delay?

^ Yes, applicants do receive accept/deny/waitlist letters towards the end of May.

Hello all! I’ve just been accepted today!
I’m really happy but I think I’m in a state of shock at the moment.

Congrats @newleaf! Where did you receive your acceptance letter? And if you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats?

Congrats newleaf. What school did you get accepted to?
