Official Georgetown transfer thread fall 2013

^ According to the Hoya, the GU paper, students applying under that program have a 60% admit rate. However, the admit rate can be very misleading: a self-selecting pool and/or very few apply under that program.

[Community Colleges: The Road Less Travelled to the Hilltop - The Hoya](http://www.thehoya.com/community-colleges-the-road-less-travelled-to-the-hilltop-1.2726197#.UW7vm6Lqny0)

In any case, I’m not familiar with it. Briefly reviewing the Montgomery College and NOVA websites, it sounds like an “advisement” program to help ensure your application (outside of your GPA) is competitive for admissions. The only CONS I see is finding/taking courses which “mirrors” what GU offers for 1st and 2nd year students to complete your GE and pre-reqs in your intended GU major in order to be competitive.

thanks for the info,

@SAT100 @SFSRules Thanks! That’s good to know.

I also got an email regarding missing documents, had my hs transcript and dean’s report sent out today…but should I call the amissions office and confirm??

^Yea, but just make sure to wait a week or so before calling. They still have to receive and process it.

Anything wrong with sending an updated r

I was wondering about that too…i recently got a job at MPD…don’t know if i should update it on my resume and send it in…

I was wondering if anyone in this thread absolutely received NOTHING by the admissions thus far.

@Yagi

I completed my application ~Feb. 28, and I received an email for an interview by mid March. Nothing else since then.

@yagiboonjota
Don’t fret. If you were not contacted for an interview, it only means that there were no willing Georgetown alumni in your vicinity. If you were not contacted for missing materials, it means that you have no missing components of your application.

@Yagi

I remember reading your stats, and they seem very strong compared to the average GT admitted applicant, academically at least. I don’t think GT communicates with applicants as much as most universities/colleges.

Btw, anyone know when we can start calling in for early reads? I’ll probably have all my decisions, except for GT, by next friday. I’d like to start planning my next semester as soon as possible, so a read from GT could help speed the process, since it is my first choice.

@Yagi

I haven’t received anything from admissions yet. I wouldn’t worry about it. No news is good news…

How many guys applied for MSB? Not SFS, please let me know so that I can give up for my chance…:(

Also, I have question… I’m not saying MSB is easy to transfer, but (compare to international law or politic major) , Is MSB acceptance rate is higher than any other major?

@pzzia777
For the incoming Frosh class, MSB had the lowest acceptance rate of the 4 colleges for the 1st time in GU history. GU points to the recession as the driving factor for students focusing on a more “marketable” degree. But, in a few weeks, we’ll see if this holds true for transfer applicants.

I applied to MSB. On the MSB site, it states that they usually take in about 50 transfers a year. Just go to the MSB site. If you want to find it, click under on the “Undergraduate section” and then click on “Admissions” menu.

I applied to MSB too

Thanks everyone for the reply!

So can I get a round of hurrahs from the people on the SFS boat here?

MSB applicant too! Anyways for the students who got an email from gtown regarding missing materials, i have a question, did you expect it? Did you know you were missing information?

I was surprised about the missing materials, but it’s sort of reassuring that they have got to my application…
