Facebook group thumbs upp!

actually i just looked at a gtown fb transfer group from 2007 and it looks like someone who went to gtown this past year starts it and then answers everyone’s questions. i’ll wait for that official one. see you guys on there! i’m so excited!

Yes to the facebook transfer group! I would start it but still haven’t told half my friends at school yet…oops!

just kidding, my above post is bs, some transfer kid started the 2007 thread and some gtown students took over answering questions. i’m starting it, join if you’re coming!

Georgetown transfer students 2010

Hi,
can anyone confirm what email address the acceptance letter came from? was it guadmissions@georgetown.edu? just checking. Thanks

Yep, that was it!

Hey guys, I heard on Thursday via email!

Current School: University of Miami
GTown School: MSB
Major: Finance
ACT: 34
College GPA: 3.9
HS GPA: 4.0 unweighted

Hopefully this will help out those of you who are nervous about this process. Good luck to everyone!

For those of you who have gotten in, what time of day did the email arrive? Morning, or afternoon (I’m assuming not night)?

My email didn’t come until around 6 or so, so in the evening.

For whatever it’s worth, I called the office of Georgetown Admissions this morning. A very nice and helpful young woman answered. She told me that due to the high volume of applications, acceptances are being sent out in “phases”.

I applied for transfer into Georgetown College. I have yet to hear back, so this was somewhat comforting.

Hope this helps some of you.

I’m in California and my email came around 2pm last Thursday.

Good Luck!!

My e-mail came at around 5:30 on Thursday.

Thanks whsdrummer99, pinklola and drob320, for your responses, although now I have no idea when to expect an email and will be obsessively checking 24/7 (though that’s what I’ve been doing anyway… so, yeah). Congratulations on your acceptances!

the ideas of phases seems nice? haha i applied MSB only one or two acceptance ive seen so far

Uuumm…what?

Goingforit,

That information does help, even though I’m probably screwed anyway lol. They didn’t tell you when the next phase of acceptances would be, did they?

NewTransfer,

Yes, she did. She said within the next week to week and a half, new letters should be mailed out for an additional wave of decisions. It was also communicated that some people would be informed closer to the June 1st deadline, as their applications either came in late or were missing materials up until recently.

She further commented that ALL decisions would be made available to applicants no later than June 1st.

My guess is that most everyone will know within the next two weeks, either by standard letter or e-mail.

Incidentally, I share your subjective pessimism regarding my chances of being accepted. Personally, I am a STELLAR student with an elite range of accomplishments, my essays rocked, and my recs were of Biblical proportions; however, I have a criminal record, and at this point in the waiting game, I am seriously questioning GC’s ability to recognize, value, and reward genuine personal transformation.

Goingforit,

Thanks for that extra info. Hopefully our pessimism is for nothing and it turns out well for the both of us. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Right Back at you, NewTransfer!

You have my best wishes!

okay so to anyone still waiting… i just called admissions and asked if there was anyone i could contact to get a leaning answer on my admission decision and the guy asked my name and then said “based on the notes i see here and your rating it doesn’t look like you’ll have a place in the class.” So…UVa here i come!!!
