Official Georgia Tech 2013-2014 EA Discussion Thread

Ehh i got 30 ACT.
with a 35 math though.
SO Im hoping with a super ultra score crap they pull… is 35 math around 760, 770?

I acually got a 34 on the ACT math then…

They finally got all my stuff on buzzport! Anyone still waiting?

Wait… Does Tech actually update our test scores on buzz port as they receive them? OR do they only mention that they got the scores?

Tech actually updates the test scores. I see my SAT I scores on buzzport, but not my subject test scores (I don’t think they display those)

My subject test scores ARE on buzzport. They appear at the top of my Standardized Test Scores section and have an asterisk next to them. Are you sure you had them sent to Tech?

on buzzport for the ACT… are the highest subscores listed? OR highest subscores of only math, eng, eng/writing? Can someone tell me what exactly is listed on the buzzport in terms of ACT test score? Thanks…

^ last year I believe my DS’s listed all ACT math, eng and eng/writing and also the SAT’s, subject SAT’s and all AP scores sent in. So for example he took the SAT & ACT twice so the scores from both were listed along with the dates he took them.

Were only the best subscores of the ACT on buzz port though?

No agg999, GATech only takes into account the Eng, math and Eng/Writing

Only the Eng, math and eng/writing subscores were listed, however I think both tests were listed. For example in Junior year he got a 33 in Math and senior year he got a 34 so it listed both. Although it also listed his SAT scores so the 800 in math on the SAT was better than the 34 in math on the ACT. Since they were all there listed in Buzzport I have to believe they saw them even though they only count the highest of each one. Are you worried that one of ACT subscores is lower than the other? Because I don’t think it really matters they are supposed to only take the highest ones.

I’ve a question, im sorry but im new to the college app business. I’ve already submitted my ga tech application and it’s labeled as under review on Buzzport. Now i don’t understand the whole financial aid deadline concept. Do we have to complete the financial aid application now? So that we get our offer with all the amount of money awarded at the same time we get our decision? Or do we wait for the decision and THEN apply for financial aid if we wish to attend that certain college. Sorry for the basic question :s and thanks in advance.

Here are my ACT scores… Please suggest me what I should send… Thanks for help!
1st attempt:
C: 31
E:28
M:33
E/W: 26 (essay: 8)

2nd attempt:
C: 29
E: 29
M: 34
E/W:29 (essay: 10)

Should I even send my 1st ACT score, because my composite is better (although, technically they don’t consider it… but they still list the average accepted ACT composite online… )

Send the second one… It clearly is better for GATech

does GA tech look at essay score?

the problem is I got a 23 on science on my 2nd attempt, but got a 30 my first attempt… I feel like they will be biased if they see my low composite/science score… that is why I am leaning toward sending both actually

Oh well then send both if you have the money:)

thanks for helping me… do u think I have chance to get in if I have a 31 composite (with a high math ACT) don’t wanna submit SAT because they are mediocre and 800’s in subject tests (math2, chem.)… awsome recs (including a supplemental), EC’s, publication, Siemens semifinalist, AIME etc. USACO silver, tennis, table tennis? I am also Intel finalist… I go to a magnet school BTW… For that reason GPA is decent but not stellar or too bad.

@agg999 - I don’t think the science is even entered into buzzport. Make sure and send your subject test grades.

@YBN1996 - You fill out the financial aid information next year in Jan/Feb.

agg99- Send them all because Tech does superscore. However I think your second ACT is stronger so I would send that. Also they don’t look at science so it doesn’t matter.

Here is from their website:

Evaluating your Test Scores
We use all three portions of the SAT and/or the three equivalent parts of the ACT, as outlined below. We do not use the ACT Composite score nor the Science or Reading score.
SAT Critical Reading = ACT English
SAT Math = ACT Math
SAT Writing = ACT Combined English/Writing
Only your highest section scores from either test will be viewed in the evaluation process. Additionally, your highest combination of scores may come from tests taken on different dates. For example, your high test scores may include SAT Critical Reading from March, ACT Math from October and ACT Combined English/Writing from December. Each time you submit new scores to us, we will update your record with your highest scores.

in that case it wouldn’t really matter if I sent the first score or not… But, since they list the average ACT composite on their website, I feel like they will unofficially take that into consideration as well… So, I think sending all of my SATII and ACT would help.

Do u guys think I will get in, after reading my previous post?
