So when and what do we need to do to get our financial aid package? Guyses please help
Yea did anyone get offered money yet? I’m out of state and I want to go but there’s no way my parents are paying that much
@nebeyu6317 @Jboon12345 My sister got the President’s Scholarship and she was out of state. So it’s definitely possible.
@FutureOilBaron ChemE too! We may see each other on August
In regards to all of the major/second major questions, it’s fairly easy to switch majors at Tech up until your sophomore year. Based off conversations I’ve had with GT counselors (through tours and summer programs), you’re taking primarily prequisite classes up until that point. A couple of my friends at Tech have switched their majors once or even twice, a some of them went in undecided/with random majors until the fall semester of their sophomore year. I’ve also met a guy who double majored, so that shouldn’t be an issue for anybody.
@vic6262 If you don’t mind, could you share your sister’s stats?
When is the deadline for accepting the offer?
FYI: To get financial aid at any school the FAFSA must be filed. The college deadline for accepting an offer is May 1 for all universities.
on financial aid, as @bengalmombengal said, a FAFSA needs to be filed, then go to GT website, they need more info to be filed, think the deadline is 2/15 for all those.
how many ap/ib credits does tech allow you to bring?
Check the GT website…They have a list of what AP/IB credits they accept.
@tookie411 I found that link: http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/students/ugrad/geninfo/advplacement.php
What I’m wondering is the max amount of hours you can come to ga tech with. For example, at UF you can only bring up to 45 semester hours.
Ah…don’t know the answer to that…I’m sure if you email admissions they can answer that or at least direct you in the right direction.
My daughter was admitted! Bio-Medical Engineering. In State. 34 ACT. 3.95 weighted GPA. 11 AP classes. Most other classes were honors classes; so very rigorous curriculum. Good essays. Two extra curricular activities that she maintained throughout high school; plus many other volunteering and leadership activities. We are very happy.
does anyone know when we’ll get our acceptance packet in the mail?
In the state of GA if you are dual enrolled at a four year university and that university accepted your AP credit it will transfer to GA Tech. So lets say you took an AP class that tech would not give you credit for but university xyz in GA did that credit transfers.
Also FYI GA Tech Calc II is mostly linear algebra.
For those who are rushing to find new friends before studying at a new school (especially at a nerd school like GT), you should definitely join this group. We are introducing ourselves and looking for friends, roommates. The group has 244 members already.

Really grateful to have been accepted. To those deferred, do not lose hope! I was deferred from UMich a few weeks ago as well. Different schools look for different people. I hope everyone has a great rest of their senior year!(:
Now to anxiously worry about financial aid. Lol
