my cousin who is a sophomore applying just had a phone convo with harvard admissions. they got about 1500 applications and they are going to accept less than 20 because of housing spacing. so that is about 1%.

Is there anything I should be doing to follow up/ improve my chances now that my transfer app has been submitted? Like, is there anything at all that I can do to help my chances at this point?

Thanks!

^Sacrifice a rooster to Jobu.

@exprep relax. Unlike freshman admission, an interview is rarely given to transfer applicants. And… Did you not go through application process in high school? No. There’s not many thing for you to do right now but to wait. Just focus on your school work, and take your mind off this thing. Otherwise you might not be able to overcome your pain in may or june lol

@asd : Wait…what? You got accepted?? When? And how did they tell you? Are they suddenly releasing decision early this year??

@engineer2014 that was obviously ■■■■■■■■. I had to log on first time in months just to report that post.

sorry for the mis post but you guys have all filled out transfer applications to harvard and im planning to next year so i though this would be a great place to ask this. are there a certain number of required units to be eligible to transfer? is it possible to transfer to harvard for you sophomore year? im currently a senior in high school

Can anyone confirm the number of applications? Seems a big increase from last year…

@hrdcha11: It’s all on their website, really. For your questions, look around on the transfer program and eligibility requirements: [Harvard College Admissions § Applying: Transfer Program](http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/apply/transfer/eligibility.html)

1500 applicants and accepting only 20?! Who does Harvard think they are? American Idol?!

^ yep, and at $75/application…

Does anyone know if receiving an invitation for an alumni interview means anything in particular? The Harvard website says:

“Interviews
We do not ordinarily schedule personal interviews for transfer applicants. If the Committee needs further information, you will be contacted.”

I’ve looked over previous transfer threads, and there are mixed reactions. I was wondering if anyone has talked to transfer admissions staff about interviews this year, and what they revealed about them.

@OutHere, hey, did you receive interview invitation?
I know the finalists receive interviews for freshman application. I don’t know if it applies to tranfer. But congrz!

@gentlebeast

Yes, I did receive one. I hope that’s the case with transfer interviews! Where did you hear that about freshman applications?

My interviewer did mention that he has several alumni interviews to conduct, so I’m not sure if it’s that exclusive.

Then again, I do live in New York City. So several interviewees here would presumably make sense, just given the population size.

Has anyone else received an interview invitation?

^ I believe WindCloudUltra commented in last year’s thread that only half his entering transfer class had an interview. But at any rate, that’s exciting. :)

(No interview here. I live in a tiny suburb that only got city status as of last year.)

^ Sadly that’s not as interesting as knowing what percentage of interviewees were IN that transfer class. But it’s still exciting! Can’t wait for the interview, and for June 1!

^The percentage actually makes senses I think. There are people who are certain to be admitted, and some people they need to learn more to make decisions. Good luck with your interview! Don’t forget to come back and share your interview experience!

@OutHere: That’s great! Even if it isn’t a strong indicator that you’ll get in, it does show that they’re at least somewhat interested in you!!

What other schools (if any) are you all applying for transfer to? What’s your back-up plan?

@engineer2014

I also applied to Yale and Swarthmore. My back-up plan is to stay at my current school and study abroad next year! So even though I don’t particularly like it here, perhaps I have a chance at a different experience.

^My status says that all of my materials have been received. I need to decrease my caffeine intake because it isn’t helping lol.

Anyone have the same status?
