A Waks???

^Bonan is that you?

Bonanz… who are you then? Haha. I’m assuming you’re another debater.

A Waks LD or Policy or Parli?

LD…

Is this turning into some online debate reunion? Haha… do I know you as well?

^I have no idea. But I don’t want to out myself on here. PM me if you must. :-)

Haha will do. I’d prefer not to “out” myself here either, but looks like someone else did for me.

@OutHere

Where do you go to school? New YOrk?

@tictac

Yup. Why?

You never answered my PM OutHere :-)

In a post on some other thread, a Harvard undergrad who got in as a transfer said that about half of her transfer class was interviewed before they got in. From some posts on this thread, I’ve gathered that it might be reasonable to assume that around half of the transfers that get in are athletes (and that athletes don’t get asked to interview because they pretty much have “interviewed” with Harvard coaches already). So should we assume that anyone who gets asked to do an interview has made it to the final round, since maybe the only kids who have made it to the final round but aren’t getting asked for interviews are athletes? Should I assume that if I did not get asked for an interview and am not an athlete, I just didn’t make it to the final round and will not be accepted?

honestly… were all prob rejected… the chances are so low since they are taking athletes as well as some of the spots… but ya dont get ur hopes up at all… i dont think anyone here actually thinks there getting in… except maybe for the people who have gotten interviews… but ya just concentrate on the other schools you applied to

how does one get an interview?
Like do you get called? or what?

^ they will contact you directly if they want to set up an interview with you… but im guessing they haven’t finished going through most of the apps yet…its only been 2 weeks and there are a ton of apps…

I don’t think we should assume anything until we have a definite “Accepted” or “Rejected” from Harvard. Like I said, most of our speculations will turn out to be heresy. There are too many variables in play, including the fact that WindCloudUltra, the Harvard transfer we both quoted, went through the process some time ago. I don’t know where you’re getting the 50% statistic for athletes, but I would guess that their specific needs for recruitment change every year.

I just created an account to comment on this:

a. People on forums talk out of their arses 99% of the time. Hyperbole is one of the tools they use to twist the truth. I believe that it satisfies their sadistic desires by making other people squirm in their seats. Take everything you read on here with a huge fistful of salt and use your own judgement. At the very least, Harvard appreciates people who think for themselves.

b. If they were to include “athletes” in the transfer quota, there wouldn’t be any space left for other “regular” students. If Harvard wants athletes, space is made for them regardless of whether they have spare beds or not. Collegiate sport is big business.

c. There are going to be people who are interviewed and there are going to be people who are not. That does not mean that the person interviewed has any better chance of getting in. For all we know, they may be an absolutely horrible candidate but the admissions committee would like to clarify if they’re correct before chucking the application into the bin. There, I’ve just created a completely new theory.

There’s a month and a half more, calm down and concentrate on doing well in your University Finals instead of worrying about what some 19 year old has typed up on the forum.

^You what they say about assume … it makes an ass out of you and me.

I think twitterfreak is dead on with one exception. I don’t think they interview a candidate they aren’t at least interested in.

I think it’s too early for this kind of thinking. The admissions committee doesn’t even convene until May 1. At that point, an admissions officer will come here on to CC and lift the cover on the bright crimson “Panic!” button. That’s when the fun begins… ;)

^seriously? How do you know that? Do they out themselves on here?

I had the feeling an adcom official replied to me a few weeks ago, in the Parents’ Forum. And they pretty much insulted me…lol. No proof whatsoever, though- just a hunch.
