Hey, for those of you that have been contacted by harvard and have been accepted off their waitlist, what are the terms? I mean, how long do you have to decide whether or not to go to Harvard? Do they send you the package?

Basically, what information and deadlines do they give you? (It would help if you would just basically explain the phone call or email you go; details etc)

We're from MA also, a public high school north of Boston. We have two public HS's here and my son's the only one from both that's waitlisted. He's also a white male majoring in Bio, the kiss of death.

when she called me, my admission officer congratulated me and told me to strongly consider harvard even though I may have other plans (no worries, im going to harvard now), but she told me I have roughly a week to think it over

guys this is one hell of a process and i guess im lucky its ended so soon for me

Wii Seller, I heard that waitlist is used primarily to fill URL that havent already been filled. If you don't mind my asking, what is your ethnicity?

So from my understanding, the first round of wait-list acceptance notices go out this week? Then this friday is probably the last day of the first round? People who are no longer being considered are also being notified this week?

I don't really think anyone knows for sure how it will all go down. That's how they basically did it last year, but they could do it completely differently this year. I just know that I'd like to end this stress sooner than later so that we can get on with our lives.

I said bio too...WHY am I not unique! And, of course, I got an anonymous 617 phone call and had a seizure, and it was just my friend calling on her dad's cell. Serious downside to living in MA...Wellnow, clearly we are soulmates :)

So when H contacted my D's GC, they "expected that my D still had straight As". GC said yes. Oops,.. not so, as the dreaded senioritis has set in this last semester. There goes that.
As for calls, I answered the phone last night, man asked for my D. Our hearts stopped, but it was an official from the Obama campaign asking whether she wanted to participate in a fundraising campaign. (no phone # display)

I called the admissions and asked the following Qs.. :

Was everything (updates) supposed to be sent by May 1?
--> the admissions officer told me that if the materials were sent by May 1, then they will definitely be reviewed by the waitlist commitee.

Or was it okay for me to send updating materials by May 9th?
--> If the materials arrived by 9th, 12thish, those materials may be reviewed, maybe not... it depends on where those materials have reached in the process

How are international students informed? via e-mail?
--> He told me that internationals are also called, e-mailed, and also will receive a packet

Oh and the officer (who was really nice btw) told me that May 9th was the starting process of reconvening for waitlist admissions and tomorrow and on Friday they will be notifying more people. He also told me that this whole process will take up to a month so don't be discouraged if you do not receive anything until Friday!!!!

Hope this info helped some of u although many things were repetitive
Good luck everyone!! :)

MA people: the head GC just took me out of class to ask me if I was still interested in Harvard. Our regional rep called him this morning to confirm that kids at my school are still interested, and he said that adcom is meeting tomorrow to discuss our region! We should be hearing soon, then!

Are there really any seniors that haven't succumbed to senioritis, even just a little bit? Assuming your D takes AP's or IB, I can't imagine that a few B's will really hurt. Besides, I was under the impression that this was more about "rounding out" the class instead of "can you make the grade?" H alerady knows that the kids can do the work, yes?

Thank you CollegeMom, I wouldn't really think a couple of Bs last semester would hurt, a little strange that was brought up as I think it's the whole application that matters. After all, as you say, the waitlistees are all presumedly qualified, and chosen for whatever qualities they have to add to the class, and can handle the work.
