Any other Mass peeps hear anything? I remember inthezone got the call a few days ago, and I think there are a lot of people lurking around? There are 11 of us waitlisted at my school, and 4 who Harvard is "very interested" in, and none of us have heard.

Hi everyone, I'm back home, they frown upon using the internet at work, especially for message boards.

Our son was called around 9:00am by a woman who's intials are I think MH judging by the email address she gave him. She said that he'd get a package around Thursday of this week, I'll let you guys know when it arrives.

We are from MA, a public high school just north of Boston. I would say that our city is pretty urban and our son is a white male majoring in Biology. His stats were solid, but not unbelievable. He's the valedictorian of his class, captain of the tennis team, pres. of National Honor Society, captain of his college bowl team (school quiz team), plays the piano and violin, plus a few other activities. He doesn't have any national awards and his SAT I's were around 2000, but his SAT II's were upper 700's. Hmm...am I leaving anything out?

assymetriclove, I am from MD too
I just want to know how many have accepted a place on the waitlist. It makes it so much more transparent. Right now 14/84 is 16.6% admitted. If it was 1000 total people then we are nearing the end.

emmabelle, thnx for the info.

when the article cited "many hundreds" on the waiting list, was it talking about waitlist offers or accepted positions on the waitlist?

i think it was the waitlist offers since the article was posted near March 31/beginning of April

Drnoeyedea,
Stats posted here are actually 13 out of 86 (one student declined the offer), which brings the % to 15.11. If there are 1000 wls, then that's approx. 150 students. Fitzsimmons said more than 200 off the wl. Naturally, these numbers are an approximation since it is unconfirmed if "many hundreds" on the wl are more or less than 1000 and how many more than 200 are they accepting. The mystery and the wait continues, sorry to say.

^oh. i forgot to take that into account.

But you guys are assuming the sample population (CCers) is an accurate representation of the waitlist population as a whole. This is not necessarily true....in fact, I would like to think that perhaps the people on college confidential are ones that show the most extreme interest or are the most passionate (and thus maybe most proactive) about getting into Harvard. We shouldn't be deriving percentages based solely on CC, and this should be an encouraging thing, since it would mean that, perhaps, CCers are just very qualified :)

Matador360,
Precisely!

Philly_Mom

Never say kaput...
... until the denied letter arrives!

My S is in the Downingtown Area School District. Two current seniors will be attending. One got in from the beginning.

Keep the faith, we could be car pooling or flying out together - in time.

believer8,
I'm with you. To quote Yogie "It aint over until...." LOL

Congratulations emmabelle & S!

Hi, everyone, this is optimisticgal, daughter of justchecking. I just wanted to say hello, and officially change my status from undecided to yes. It took me a few days, but it feels great to have made my decision...maybe I will go to graduate school at Duke! I wish everyone else the best of luck with their choices.

Congrats to emmabelle and all else who got in : ) Also, congrats to optimisticgal for your decision! I'm sure you'll love it at Harvard. As for the rest of us... it's not June yet !

Although my S was accepted at PS Main Campus, he did not get into Penn State Honors and was really sad about it. It's a GREAT college and a fantastic Honors Program!

Optmisticgal-Congratulations and all the best!

Believer8-Congratulations on your son's acceptance to H and to your eldest whose college graduation ceremony was today!

CONGRATS!! wish the best for you there!

IvyMom1

Thank you :-)

My S's graduation ceremony was long, although wonderful in itself!

The past few months have been filled with many emotional ups and downs.

As long as cc posters can tolerate me, I'll be here thru July to support each and everyone of you through this unrelenting Harvard process.

Believer8,
We are delighted to have your support and could certainly use the prayers!
