***Official Harvard Class of 2012 Waitlist Thread***

I just called the admissions office as well, and they said they are sending letters out tomorrow to almost everyone. So I hate to believe it, but it seems that if we haven't gotten a call, it is truly over.

I think it's a blessing that we've made it so far, and being turned down now might be the best thing that happened. Now we can focus on our respective schools.

Exactly. It has been a fun ride on the Harvard Express but I am glad that it will be over soon. Columbia University, here I come. :D

I know from our regional admissions rep that they will be making additional decisions today, so combined with everyone else's input, I'd agree that if you're not pulled off the list today and notified by EOD tomorrow that the chances are slim, slim, slim after that.

Don't forget that it would be really helpful for future applicants if the accepted students could post their stats in the "official class of 2012" thread. It seems there are fewer students doing that this year, not just on this board.

Congratulations students and your families!

so I got a call today (message on my cell phone), and my admissions counsleor said the committee's decision was positive for me and I will be hearing good news form harvard, likely tomorrow in a letter! This is so great!!! Unfortunately, she said she won't be in her office for the rest of the day but she wanted to let me know.

CONGRATS MATADOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

awww dammit i heard nothing... :(

How do you know who your admissions counselor is?

Just got off the phone with H admissions. They advised they are still making decisions on a rolling basis until July 1st, when the wl will be officially closed.
***This seems vastly different than what others have been told in that the majority of decisions will be made by tomorrow and only a small number will remain on the wl.

YEA MATADOR! Congrats! I'm happy for you. Keep routing for the rest of us Jerseyites...

For anyone interested, here is an updated CC wl.
My apologies for any errors or anyone unrepresented. Feel free to give a shout out or make appropriate updates.
Good Luck to everyone!

CC wl totals; 117 wl; 24 admitted (2 declined, 1 undecided, **2 admitted 2013 “z list”)

I also called the admissions' office----couldn't stand not hearing a voice for myself. She was very nice and said definitely not to give up hope--they will clearly be working with the waitlist through June. She said the people that have been already reached and off the list will get their letters sent tomorrow. I always choose to interpret on a positive note even though I know the numbers dwindle as I write!!

Keep the faith---everyone will be just fine wherever they end up!

Amusing memory: Fall 2004-my son applied early and the day the decisions came out he was told a few hours early that if you could get on the "Welcome to the Class of 2009" site, you were in. I tried and it worked (he was sleeping-we live overseas). I did not believe his good fortune and called the Harvard admissions office and asked them what that meant and they said "nothing-decisions have not gone out yet". It took my best friend saying "don't believe them-they are lying" to realize that indeed he was in. A few hours later he got the email SO they don't always tell the whole story. I don't fully understand the smoke and mirrors.
Congratulations to all of you graduates-both on your high school graduation and your success in the admissions process, wherever you many land. You have all done so much already and have 8 more decades to achieve your dreams. What a wonderful time in life!!! Enjoy and be proud!

I got a voice mail on my cell phone long time ago. It was hard to hear the message. All I could pick up were the words representative, area code 667 (not even sure about that), "call back", and Steve. I thought they got the wrong number or it was a telemarketer. Anyway, my cell phone's broken. I had to duck tape it together to hear the message anyway. I think two different people called me. If by rare chance that it was my regional rep, and I didn't respond to their message, will they not consider me anymore?

And how do I know who my rep is?

According to the phone call with admissions office, decision letters will go out tomorrw.
And not everybody accepted was not contacted by officers.
This means some people were accepted, but they will not know until they receive a letter. Also all decision was made already.
But another second waiting list will be there for June decision,.

This is getting close to be end now.

Congrats Matador! I've been following your posts, and I'm so happy for you.

Re: Admissions office...very strange how they give out varying stories. Maybe some are more informed than others and make assumptions.

By the way, aside from gadli, anyone going to Georgetown if not admitted to H?

The area code is 617 so it could have been them since the number was so close that you remember. The admissions' said they try to reach students by telephone and if they are not reached, they try email. Good luck----

The admissions' person I spoke to and I know all stories seem a little different from each other lead me to believe that all students accepted would be contacted by telephone or email before they were sent a letter. I am afraid the letters that some of our children will open this week may be the big good-bye!

Momba, my daughter will be going to G'town if not admitted to H.

Daisy1B, that's great. Will you pm me so we can share experiences/thoughts? If our kids don't go to H, maybe we can continue our discussion on the Georgetown thread? :)

Matador360,
Great news! We all share your excitment. Congratulations! Let us know when you receive your letter!!
