I think you should make it obvious, just don't whine about it or anything. I can't decide if it's really a hook or not though.

My hook: Recruited athlete with a 2390 SAT I and high GPA

chitwonstud, that's awesome. happy for you!!!

I have a hook beyond all else:

Upper Middle Class White Male, average scores, not legacy

Beat that.

The ultimate hook

native american
varsity quarterback for football
valedictorian
15 AP classes
750's SATIIs
2200 SAT
poor lower class

Someone with that will GET IN!

WOW Look what a thread I have started!! it died for like 2 months and then it was alive again!! AHAHAH! ALIVE ALIVE! Its alive noW!!! AHAHAH!!

"Look what I can do!"

"Look mom no hands!"

MADD TV is AWESOME!! Steward is funny and the someone called weir is actually weird and funny...especially the lady that says

You looka lika man!!!!!!!

HOOK:
Worked for The Harvard Crimson this past summer and earned its highest honor, The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Award...before even being an actual Harvard student. The Crimson summer internship program is almost more selective than Harvard itself, 24 interns...over 250 applicants...3 FDR winners. ;-) I also am a survivor of an extremely bizarre/rare/incompletely understood chronic autoimmune disease...with no cause or cure.

Yeah, MAD TV is hilarous because of Swan ("you look like a man!"). Without her, I wouldn't watch it. I really liked the skit when she had to describe a man who mobbed her, and she thought to herself "oooh don't say it. don't say it." then she blurted it out "he look like a man".

ooooohh....he..hee.hee....loookaa...likaa ... man!! (SWAN)

"I DON'T NEED A MALE INFLUENCE!!" (STEWART)

That Asian guy who always acts like that Chinese reporter from NYC...Kytie Chong or something

this thread has taken a turn for the worst. HAH Stewart was the only good thing about madtv... I wish comedy central still had the rights to SNL...

Is this my hook strong enough?
IMO silver medalist + USAMO winner + 2400 SAT II (math, physics, chemistry) + 98% average in junior year

However, I am a Canadian and I lack extracurricular activities, leadership experience, and community service.

USAMO winner? As in top 12? How is that not a hook?

You tied for 3rd place for the Akamai scholarship right? You are one of the best students in the country for math. Harvard is in the palm of your hand.

I have the best hook in the world:

Native American
Family income <10K
Kentucky resident
School SAT average 600
APs Taken: 30 APs offered: 4
rank 1 of 10,000
football varsity quarterback star
Track star
Swimming star
Applying EA
Workincome accounted for 70% of family income

.....oh and cured the common cold!

I'M IN!! YES!!!!

You forgot the Nobel prize you won ;)

Oh how silly of me to forget! :) I also danced with Jennifer Lopez, sang with Kelly Clarkson, made the X box 360, helped kinomi make Metal gear solid 15, and built 15 schools in my area. I teach all my classes and write all the ap exams? Do you want the quetions? I dated a Harvard admissions committe graduate and gave Halloween candy to Harvard President Summers daughter that probably does not exist. I made the skits for MAD TV, I play SWAN and I say "You looka like a man!" and I went to space with sally ride but because I built a time machine I am still 17 in 2005! I have even seen dinosaurs with my time machine and hey..guess who told Spielberg about Jurrasic park ...Mwa!! I even made the word "Mwa" and can spell it that way! It was I who developed this site CC and I developed the internet. I even saw the creators of Harvard and they said I could be in. So if I do not get in then who knows who will!! Oh yeah...I own the SAT and Collegeboard...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!....sorry one of those ADD moments..haha that last for um....(glances at clock)...TEN MINUTES!!

Clearly you're asking for an ego boost. I don't know what some of the things you listed are, but there really isn't any point in asking. You're very transparent just so you know. You should be starting applications already.

Is being nationally ranked for table tennis and junior olympic gold medalist a hook?

I am looking into harvard pretty seriously actually (couldn't escape the lure).

Potential hooks:
-Finance: Started money management firm which manages a number of client accounts using quantitative models to speculate in the currency markets. All models made through original research. Also intern at a quant fund as a trading assistant.
-Research: Completing an economic paper to be submitted to a handful of competitions (Intel etc) in 2006.
-Background: Immigrated in 2002. First generation.

Of course all this is more or less negated by my GPA of 91.5 UW(albeit at a very competitive school).

Nothing extremely special.

what you wrote is not exactly ordinary. sigh, when will people understand, Harvard does not want demigods.

It sure seems like it looking at some people's stats.
