When do we find out about interviews? We get invited to have one?

I’m so nervous. CC has incredible applicants with stellar statistics.

Agreed, kitkat522! I sent in my Writing Supp AND Common App on Sunday. How long before we can expect an interview? What’s the process like for setting one up? Do we have to wait for an email and effectively schedule one with whoever is assigned to interview us?

Had my interview yesterday, and it was fantastic! He told me a person like me would “fit in perfectly at Harvard.”

Ah! I have mine next week! Advice? What kinds of questions did you get asked?

Ahhh! Feeling such a rush after completing my interview. It was so amazing to both hear about the incredibly successful people my interviewer met, connected with, and is still in contact with today through Harvard. She told me that she was “astonished at my achievements” and “sure I would be a perfect fit for Harvard” :)

Not that it means much in the overall process. But still, I’m pretty happy.

for those who had your interview, how long after you submitted your app were you contacted?

Wow thats awesome!! what questions did she ask you?

Mine was like 2 weeks after maybe. Also, my guy just emailed me and said i didnt need to bring anything…said it was gonna be a chat. Is that normal?

By not needing to bring anything he may be referring to items such as transcripts, test scores, etc. Some interviewers really go the extra mile when they conduct interviews because they consider it important from their end. I would still bring a notepad to take notes on if something interesting comes up during the interview!

Yeah definitely, I think I’ll just bring my resume just in case

I submitted my app on December 31st, and have not gotten contacted for an interview yet. So this is fine? And do most people get contacted for interviews, or just extremely qualified students? Sorry if these have obvious answers.

Unless you’re int’l you’ll probably get offered an interview unless you live in the middle of nowhere. And yeah its only been 6 days lol…calm yourself.

Alright, just making sure… I was worried because everyone was talking about their interviews, and I guess I assumed they were all last-minute applicants like me, haha. Thanks! :)

Lol. Nah I submitted early-mid december. You should get yours in a week or two I’m guessing.

Submitted december 30 and haven’t been asked one so you’re not alone!

Harvard, Yale, and Princeton each had slightly higher SCEA acceptance rates this year. Each of the three should have RD rates ranging from 3-5%. That’s a bit scary, frankly.

I didn’t get an interview either, but I applied the day before the deadline, so I guess it figures.

Here’s another deferred applicant. Good luck!

To people without interviews: Don’t worry. You have until January typically to be contacted. For the EA application, I was contacted two days after I applied, so that was pretty scary. But just really take this time to do some reading on Harvard, world events that interest you, and decide why you think you’d be a good fit for the school. And make sure you know yourself. All of that’s fair game for the interview. (PS: From everyone I know who has had an Ivy League alumnus interview (myself just doing Columbia’s today), it really isn’t bad. It’s just a conversation to get to know you.)

Hey good luck.
