Official Harvard RD Class of 2018 Thread

When do decisions come out?!? I’m thinking March 27? Just a little over a month and a half away now! By the way, if I got into Stanford early, what are the chances I’ll get into Harvard regular? I have no more contacts at Stanford than I do at Harvard, and the applications I submitted to both are very similar.

All Ivy League schools will be releasing decisions this year on March 27th as per the Ivy League Agreement.

On January 17th my son received an appointment (acceptance) to West Point. He was really excited to have an acceptance from a top tier school in hand. However he also received a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship that would be good at Harvard. He is so excited about Harvard and would love to attend Harvard along with the rest of you hopefuls. We are keeping our fingers crossed for good news from Harvard on March 27th! Good luck to the rest of you; no matter what happens, you had the courage to apply!

Still haven’t received any notification for interview yet. Should I call the admission office, or does that mean I failed in the first round? My friend who submitted the application later than I did had an interview couple weeks ago’s…

@ObiWanJacoby Receiving or not receiving an interview does not indicate that you have failed the first round.
The website says: In the United States, typically you will have the opportunity to have an in-person interview with a regional Harvard representative in or near your local community. However, if an interview cannot be arranged, you will not be at a disadvantage during the application process.

When do the results come out?

Decisions are released on March 27 for all Ivy League schools this year.

Not soon enough…

Oh that’s a lotta familiar names from Stanford REA…Hi again fellas!

Since we are still months out until results come out we might as well discuss something else. What are your guys planning to study if you get admitted? Personally I am determined to go CS ( which I know is weird for Harvard), so?

@Keepyourshirton
Primary concentration in Environmental Science and Public Policy and secondary concentration in Molecular and Cellular Biology (amazing program and major at Harvard). Potentially even a Special Concentration.

I’m undecided hahaha.

I’ll probably end up concentrating in English with a secondary in theatre or business… or statistics… maybe study some Korean along the way… To be honest, I’m not really sure, but I am relatively sure about English.

I applied as a physics major because at that time, I thought I was good at physics… hopefully that won’t be a problem. O.o

No interview yet, and I’m an international(from a country with limited interviews). Bad sign?

Same here @disari21 . But I guess we should wait till March; from what I’ve heard, some interviews in these limited interviews areas go on till the first week of March. This is because not everyone in these countries gets an interview; adcoms go through the applications and shortlist a few people. This does not hold true for domestic US applicants and countries in which applicant has to initiate the interview. Also, this the practice Harvard follows; other ivies like Princeton, Penn, Brown try to interview most applicants.

Exactly four weeks from today

I’m so excited for my rejection letter!

Best of luck to you all :)

i’m not expecting much because i didn’t get a second interview

<a href=“Second interview: what could it mean? - Harvard University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1245029-second-interview-what-could-it-mean.html</a> @Shutterstock see the second post in this thread. All hope is not necessarily lost :)

EDIT: for the record I didn’t even know that second interviews were a thing… oops

Hi guys. RD applicant here. Got an email from my admissions officer saying she already reviewed my application and was wondering if I could send in some more of my “best work” to be reviewed. Has this happened to anyone else?

@Manmeetsg
Didn’t happen to me, but that most likely means you’re going to committee. Your regional admissions officer will present your case, so the more fire power he/she has, the likelier you’ll get in.

@manmeetsg
She just emailed you and told you she has reviewed your application?
