@Karabekian: If you used up all the ten activities spots and still have no room to put your hospital volunteering, why not put it in the “additional information” section?

Does Harvard not care about ACT Reading and Science sections? Because they only reported the percentiles for English and Math.

@dopecake Where does Harvard say it only reported the percentiles for English and Math?

The only data I could find has ranges for English, Math, and composite. If you could find one for Science and Reading that’d be helpful.

I am sure you’ll be able to take summers abroad ! Apparently, many colleges have international programs
Round of applause for your essays I am still working on them (alas procrastination …) but I hope I’ll be finished soon !!

i hav a 3.34 gpa but awesome ec’s and act scores…like i had a nasa internship and own a patent…the reason i have 3.34 is cuz i took 18 ap/ib classes

Still deciding on Harvard SCEA or Stanford SCEA… But you guys are really fun so I’m just going to jump on this thread while still in limbo Nice to meet you all!

it was fun…but can u answer my question…

I calculated my gpa incorrectly and I retook my act…my question is will harvard or any ivy league school accept a 3.3 gpa?

then what school will?

Im not sure. I was reading on another tread where someone said that the lowest Harvard accepted one year was a 3.4. But don’t quote me on that lol. And also their are tons if schools that will accept you. I think everything comes down to the essays. IMHO, they are the great equalizer.

@2015gradtexas While taking a ton of AP/IB courses is laudable, the fact is your competition for the topmost colleges have taken similar qty but achieved higher GPAs. That seriously diminishes your already low chances of getting an accept from a very selective college.

hey guys, i’m a bit apprehensive posting here but i’ve decided to give it a go. (I apologize for the length of this post, but i need to give a bit of background before i ask my question)

I am a student applying from india and am currently doing the IB. However, I was in a highly ranked american high school for freshman and sophomore year, I did fairly well academically, with a 4.0 GPA, and a 4.6 weighted GPA in 9th and 10th grade. I had pretty good extra-curricular activities in the states, the best of which is most likely debate, in which I performed quite well, placing at notable debate tournaments such as emory, blake, georgetown, and winning several local competitions. I even attended harvard debate camp over sophomore summer.

In india I have excelled academically, predicted a 43 in the IB and had good extracurriculars (head and founder of debate society and maths society, founder of a not for profit organisation for computer literacy, awards in several MUNs, writer for school publication, varsity basketball captain, paid voice actor, two internships at cyber security firms, part of student leadership).

My question: despite doing alright academically and outside of school, I am an average standardized test taker, I took the SAT 3 times, getting 2100, 2100, 2150, and a superscore of 2200. I can take in a FOURTH time in october and pray for the best, or I can apply with a 2200 superscore (M:800, W: 720, CR: 680). however subject wise I have gotten 800s in SAT Math II and SAT physics. In you guys’ opinion is something like a 2200( in my opinion average) score going to greatly affect my chances if I had a larger SAT score. I acknowledge my chances as an int’l applicant are already insanely low, I only wish to know what kind of an affect another SAT score may have on my chances, and whether or not I should take it again. Also I am NOT applying with financial aid (I think it matters for int’l applicants). I intend on applying for SEAS as well (most likely computer science).

I really am sorry for the length of this post, but I really wanted an answer from others planning on applying SCEA.

Thanks in advance guys

@amritk : I think that the average SAT score at Harvard is 2240ish, so you’re around the average. Unless you could bring up your SAT very significantly by taking it again, I don’t think retaking it would make a dramatic difference. A 2200 is a competitive score!

@frozens thanks for the input, I feel as though ultimately im going to wind up going for it without retaking. Harvard is a dream for anybody so I’m just going pray for some miracle.
This thread has been a really interesting read, best of luck to all of you guys

Best of luck to everyone. We’re almost there!

Has anyone submitted their application yet?:)

^We may be almost there deadline wise, but certainly not with essays!

Haha, I just couldn’t have the application hanging over my head so I submitted it last week. Could literally have edited the essays back and forth for another year

Yup; I’ve submitted mine.
