@AnotherPSEOKid I’m also worried about that so i’m hoping its email

@AnotherPSEOKid , some interviewers are old school and assume that college-bound kids will have a mailbox that’s not overflowing and will check their messages. My son thought that a phone call to schedule was quaint, but checked his messages anyway.

@Ixnaybob thanks. If I miss a call I’ll be sure to check my voice-mails (although I haven’t submitted yet. Wrapping up the supplemental essay).

If I want to send supplemental research, Harvard’s page says I should submit it through the portal. However, I don’t have access to the portal yet, because I haven’t submitted my common app. If I don’t get my account until after November 1st, can I still submit my research?

@FlyingWombat, you really should submit your commonapp now. Then it’s very easy to submit your research paper.

Has anyone discovered why the portal doesn’t show supplemental stuff or additional letters of recommendation?

We should coordinate and have someone contact them.

@Karabekian I think they don’t show that because they don’t show every single document independently!
They are either shown as miscellaneous, Additional academic Material or non academic!
If these show in your checklist, then I guess that harvard has received your additional letters!
If you want, you can contact them, and they might be able to let you know about specific letters that have been received by them!

@Karabekian: Unless things have changes in the past four years, the portal only keeps track of the REQUIRED elements of an applicant’s file. It does not keep track of extra materials submitted, such as an additional LoR or supplemental materials. You just have to assume that those items arrived – that’s pretty standard no matter what college you are applying to.

QUESTION
I didn’t write a supplement essay, but I want to now, is too late?
Can I upload my essay in the portal? If I do, they won’t mistake it for my personal statement will they?

^^ Again, unless things have changed, you cannot upload documents to the portal. And, as Harvard’s file room does not open email attachments, you will have to (a) snail-mail any additional information to: Harvard Admissions, 86 Brattle Street, Cambridge 02138, or (b) fax the additional information to Harvard Admissions at 617-495-8821. Be sure to include your full legal name, high school and date of birth, as well as a notation about it being the supplemental essay and not your personal statement.

@PcollegegirlP, I attached my supplement essay through common app -> Harvard. There is a list of colleges I added to my common app. When I sent my stuff to Harvard, it gave me options: sending common app, and sending supplement essay to them.

@nomatterwhat the problem is I already submitted my supplement app (universal college app)
@gibby It says the following on the portal page about uploading stuff:
Non-Academic Material: Samples of writing or personal update statements; Resumes, newspaper articles, waitlist or deferred student updates; awards and certificates

Miscellaneous: Letters of support that are not from academic sources (i.e. parents or relatives, lab or work or volunteer supervisors, private music or art instructors, neighbors, clergy, etc.); All other materials which do not fit into another category

^^ Okay, thanks. I guess things have changes from 4 years ago!

how long does it typically take after your application is submitted and everything is received, for an interviewer to make contact? I’m getting worried!

It depends if there are a lot of alumni in your area. I’m in New Orleans so there are a ton of alumni, and not that many kids applying from my state so it’s super easy to get an interview here. My counselor said if I don’t get a call, he’ll just get me one.
Hopefully you live in a city with many alumni and you’ll get an interview in no time!! @harvard00

The portal says that your supposed to uppload other letters of rec there but I already submitted them through the common app. Does that mean I have to resubmit them?

for the financial aid application, do I need to send Harvard any documents or do I just fill out the forms?
Also, what does 2013 T1 form mean?
FYI, I am international student (permanent resident of Canada)

@oxoxhawja3xoxo i got an email from an interviewer this morning haha I guess i was worrying for no reason!

I have a question about the financial aid application.
As an international student (and I’m not from Canada), I am only required by Harvard to submit the CSS Profile. See: <a href=“Prospective Students | Harvard”>https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid/applying-aid/prospective-students
However, my friends, who are applying to Brown and Duke, are fussing about the fact that they are required to send in their family’s income statements and other financial documents. Should I submit the same documents or should I just follow the instructions? Will the financial aid office contact me if there’s anything missing or will I be automatically disqualified for financial aid? I’d appreciate your help :)

@PKMGSoledad I think u should send ur income stuff too!
Basically because if I remember correctly, in the forms, it says attach several papers.
Read here for what to submit.
https://college.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/RA_Foreign_Paper_15_16.pdf
I know this is for paper submission, but I think it also applies for the online financial aid process!
