@2019mom
I got my email after 10 days!
In the email they give you a code and with the code you can create your own password.
I advice you to wait before emailing harvard because on their site they say it can take up to 14 days to get the email with the application status portal info!

@2019mom I got the email from Harvard the day after I submitted my common app to Harvard. I still haven’t submitted my supplement essay yet. Yes they send you a temporary password, then you go in and change it.

@harvard00 @PcollegegirlP 2nomatterwhat: Thank you all for answering my question.

Hey guys, is this normal?

The Application Status Portal Checklist does not include the writing supplement or the additional teacher recommendation. The Common App site says that those are complete.

Perhaps the portal checklist is only for required items?

@karabekian, I have exactly the same concern. should we call and check?

@nomatterwhat and @Karabekian you guys can email Harvard!
But as far as I know, the extra documents are considered part of the miscellaneous category, additional academic material, or Non academic material category!
They don’t show every single paper, the additional papers are considered part of one of the above categories.
But just be in the safe side, you can email them!

has anyone had their interviews yet?

For the additional essay, what is the word limit…650?

Also, should I provide a description of the topic of my choice at the beginning of the additional essay?

I haven’t even started the financial aid application yet. I’m hoping to start that tomorrow and hope to finish it before the November 1 deadline. (I have submitted my common app, test scores, and supplements already) How long will the financial aid application process take?

Arg I have the same concern…been focused so much on Common App/Supplements that I completely forgot about financial aid stuff…I hope that’s not a huge thing.

@lemons4life, I did include the “prompt” at the beginning of my supplement essay, but I don’t think it’s necessary. However, if you follow one of the prompts they gave, why don’t just put it on the top.

I’ve completed the financial aid stuff. You have to be careful to not miss any numbers carelessly. Did it over the weekend, so I would say a few hours over 3 days.

I submitted my app on Oct 15th and I was wondering about how many days it took you guys to get an interview? Thanks!

About financial aid:

Unless you own a business, farm, etc. or file your own tax returns, the financial aid shouldn’t be too bad. You just fill out a profile on CollegeBoard (the Harvard site will direct you there) and pay 25 bucks to submit. You need income estimates and a lot of other details. If you have all the information you need at hand, it shouldn’t take more than half an hour.

I am having my interview next week! Kinda feel nervous!
Does anybody know what to expect?

@ricecracker after i submitted my application, it still took about a week for the SAT scores to be sent by college board. Once Harvard received my SAT scores (along side all the other application requirements), I got my call the next day from an interviewer.

for the financial aid app, do you need to send any documents for proofs?
also, I am an international student, so will the process be different for me?

did your interviewers contact you via email or a phone call?

I have a feeling when you get your interview call dep. on where you are. If you’re in a big city, where there might be a lot of Harvard alums, you may be a call sooner.

@harvard00 I really hope interviews aren’t scheduled via phone. I’m worried I’d miss it!
