Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

Well I guess you would just skip over the question if it’s specifically targeted to those living outside the US or Canada. If you answered it, the admission officers might get confused because you’re not an international student and you shouldn’t answer the question.

@gronk87‌ Thanks! And you don’t have to answer that question if it’s under the outside of U.S. and Canada section.

Just had my interview! It was amazing! I’m glad it’s over and it went smoothly! :smiley:

I’m planning on submitting today, but if my teachers don’t get back to me on my essays, I may have to submit tomorrow… Hopefully nothing bad happens

Also, how long should the supplement be? Mine is just over 500 words right now. Should I write less? More?

@Jellybae‌ : My school counselor recommended keeping it around 500 words. I think your length is fine!

Hi! This is my first post. I’m very worried because I have submitted both my CommonAPP and Supplements. Harvard sent me an email that they have received my application and all the material. When will I find out about the interview? Also, I have never heard of the CSS… where do I find that? when should I file it? If it is November 1st, will it be hinder my acceptance? I’m worried. help! THANKS

@jordanium

CSS is for applying financial aid. Deadline for SCEA is Nov 1st

You need to submit it through college board
<a href=“CSS Profile Home – CSS Profile | College Board”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

SUBMITTED! When did everyone get the emails from Harvard that they have received your applications? I requested a fee waiver… how long does it take them to accept the request? Would my application not be submitted if they don’t accept the request before Nov. 1?

@mindyru I got mine the next day. Not sure if it is impacted by the fee waiver.

How did everyone format their supplemental essay? Times New Roman, 12pt font, 1.5 spacing? I also have my name, common app id, and essay title at the top. Indenting paragraphs or no?

@AnotherPSEOKid Have you already submitted your Common App and are now submitting your supplemental essay through the Harvard website?

Did you guys have titles for your supplemental essay? Wondering if it’ll look bad if I don’t have one :-S

@pmmywest I already submitted my common app, but it still lets you submit the writing supplement through the common app. And yes, I have a title.

@pmmywest I had a title and @AnotherPSEOkid I used that format and indented my paragraphs.

I had a title. It has 640 words.
Good luck everyone.

so we should have our name and common app id at the top? wasnt aware of that

@Collegeapps2k14 I did but it shouldn’t matter.

I had 4 recommendation letters (3 teachers and 1 Other). On Status Portal, however, there are only 2 recommendations listed. Should I email Harvard to ask about what’s going on?

Same deal here, @fairyfantasy‌

Is your supplemental essay missing from the portal too?

They only update the status of the required parts of the application that they’ve received. You’ll in other words just have to hope that the extra rec letters have been received by them.
