Official Harvard University RD Class Of 2017 Thread

This is going to sound pathetic, but I will do little to nothing while I wait for decisions. Theoretically they’ll start coming out while I’m in seventh period…

I’m on school break… thankfully I have a jam packed day planned. Ironically, it is the same day planned for the day after my Yale deferral haaha

they come out at 9pm my time, I’ll be swimming 6-8pm, walk out at 8:15, get home by 8:30, then I’ll panic for half an hour.

I live in the same time zone as Harvard, but I’ll be finishing school at 5:30. So I’ll check as soon as I get out of the class

Wait so how are we notified by Harvard? On my app, I clicked that I wanted a letter. Does this mean I won’t get any online notification?

^You won’t be getting an email then, unless you indicated that you wanted an online notification. You’ll have to wait for the letter to find out the decision. But of course, you can try logging into the admitted students website to see if that works because a bunch of people found out that way for EA

I’m pretty sure the check box was just for email. They mail decisions regardless of whether or not you asked for an email.

I wonder how long I will have to wait…:frowning: I feel so stupid now.

It’s not that long waiting for the letter, maybe like a few days after the emails (but it might be longer for RD because so many letters are going out as compared to EA). Plus again, you can always go the admitted students website route and see if your log in information works!

I wish they all came out via mail. The internet is so cruel

At least they send an email, I hate the online portal decisions where you enter your log in info and sit in agony for like 5 seconds.

My sister checked that she didn’t want an email. Ridiculous in my opinion. Wouldn’t it be terrible knowing that decisions are out and you don’t know yours? It would be for me at least, haha. (For what it’s worth, she got WLed.)

That sounds like an incredible idea! There is a login required before entering the admitted students website though, correct?

^ yup - it’s your last name and your access code (I think it’s the same code you use to access the document tracking portal).

also, I lol’d at “sit in agony for like 5 seconds.” out of context it seems ridiculous - but it’s so true. especially when it takes like 5 minutes or more (I’m looking at you, Northwestern).

haha I always thought I’d never be that kid who that would happen to, but of course it happened lol

Anyway to cheat the system and find out early?

I’m preeeetty sure Harvard is very, very careful about controlling any sort of leak. Unless you’re a master hacker, probably not.

i think i submitted the harvard app at like 11:59…if they reject me, im gonna say its because it didnt go through till 12:01 so that i can feel good about myself. I also wanna point out that every Ivy posts decisions at the exact same time: thursday at 5. f***

@pitabread78 I know right…making a game plan for which ones to check first xD

.

i only applied to ivies…
