How do you all feel about the fact that decisions are automatically sent via email as opposed to having to first log-in to a portal of some sort? I just feel that, with a decision email, I unwillingly am forced to see my decision even if the timing is quite inconvenient (not that there is a perfect time to see a decision).

You chose to receive the email. 2. You can choose to not open the email until a convenient time if you feel “unwillingly forced to see” it. Sheez.

@collegebound, my problem with it is that Gmail automatically shows the first line or so of every email in my inbox - so even if I don’t want to open it, well, there it is.

Then again, the email will probably take forever to come, and I’d rather read that than get an awkward kind-of rejection by failing to log onto the admitted students website.

Then again part deux, I suppose I asked for all this when I applied, so I’ll deal with it when it gets here.

Just an FYI, even on gmail you have to click on the message to actually see what your decision is.

But u can kno by the first lines (“Congratulations!!” or “We appreciate the opportunity to review your application”) what the decision was,but i am mentaly prepared for a rejection,…

I’m relieved to hear that.

My stomach is in knots. I keep alternating between perfectly calm and incredibly anxious.

Sorry if this has already been answered- I tried not to think about this too much til now. Does anyone know what time tomorrow?

5pm Eastern, supposedly - although word is a lot of the emails don’t arrive for several hours.

@stupiddorkyidiot

Thanks for the information. My sister graduated from Harvard last May, and obviously i have visited many times; it’s such a great school not just because it’s HARVARD, but the people are really great- not snobby or anything like you might read. Her stats were better than mine, but it can’t hurt to hope…

Funny, my sister was waitlisted two years in a row; my stats are a bit better than hers, so I have an ounce or two of hope. You’re right - the people there are amazing. When I visited, I hung out with a friend of a friend who’s a freshman this year. She couldn’t stop talking about how much she loved her roommates and her friends.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow, I’m proud to have applied. Everyone here should be. Guys, we’re awesome.

Musicguy since u have legacy u have higher chance of acceptance, good luck!

Chances boost for an average legacy with competitive stats is about 14%.

@stupiddorky I was deferred early action and Gmail only showed this part of the email in the preview line thing: “This message contains graphics. If you do not see the graphics, c…”

The subject of the email doesn’t give anything away either, so you should be good. All it said was “Your Harvard College Application.”

Good luck to everyone tomorrow, both my fellow deferred SCEA people and all the RD people!

Philo, are you serious? Hey, I might actually get into Harvard.

luv2dance, thank you, that’s a relief. btw, I recognize you from the Chicago decisions thread - congrats! looks like you’ve got some good options so far. :)

For those of you who applied to multiple Ivies, what order are y’all checking them in?

Harvard, Princeton, Yale

I cannot believe I’m up eating cereal like a nocturnal crackhead.

Anyways, probs going:

Dartmouth
UPenn
Columbia
Brown
Cornell
Yale
Princeton
Harvard

In order of increasing preference.

@alexis, it’s Ivy Eve. Of course you’re a nocturnal crackhead. Who didn’t stay up to see Santa when they were little?

As for order - I really don’t know. At all. I feel like the only Ivies I really have a shot at are Harvard and Dartmouth. Can’t decide if it’s best to save them for last - ending with good news? or, more likely, just the icing on top of a really terrible cake?

Then again, I can’t check my Brown decision until two hours later, so I guess that automatically comes last.

@loveabledorkyperson (otherwise I feel like I’m being mean T_T)
Truuuueee. Maybe I’ll stay up as long as I possibly can then sleep all day until Ivy Time. Perf way to pass the hours. Lololololol

d’awww, u.

Sounds good to me. Just set an alarm for 5. ^_^

I’ve realized in the past few weeks that I subconsciously pinned all my hopes on getting into Harvard and sort of dgaf’d my essays everywhere else in hopes that my stats would get me in. Welp. This is awkward. Heading into Ivy Day with (almost) nary an acceptance…
