when i called yesterday they said it could go into july…
and like @marioharvy said, they told me they won’t make zlist offers till the end of june
@janedoe12 - No one is messing with us; Harvard is simply operating on Harvard’s schedule. Last year’s patterns have very little to do with this year’s because the yield is different, as is the number of admitted waitlist applicants who accept and decline the offer. There are many variables so following last year’s pattern to the day (and minute!) is only going to drive you crazy. Also, there is a very real possibility that they are looking for “like-matches” at this point, in which case, it’s in fate’s hands now. Here’s my guess: Harvard probably told all of the May 15th WL admits that they have two weeks to decide, which means today is the day they know how many more spots they have left. @jwong945 - I hope the person who told you there are 70 spots open was correct because I would looooove for my D to get a call, but that sounds awfully high. Since they were only offering 50-60 spots from the waitlist, that would mean everyone declined, plus some others who committed May 1 also dropped. I believe they will review remaining WL applicants next week and call admits by Friday at the latest. I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating: If you made it this far in the Harvard Hunger Games, you are an incredible student with a bright future. Of course, admission would be wonderful, but you have already rocked this college admissions process. Celebrate that.
Tom Petty says it best. Hang in there everyone!
@MamaBear97 I’d guess that you’re just trying to be helpful and encouraging, but I would ask that you please read some of the earlier pages of the thread to get a sense of the context of my conversation with @bobjones12345 @marioharvy @mermaidprincess and others; it was a humorous joint complaining session, not actual speculation about sadistic motives.
The post on last year’s schedule was copied, as I prefaced it, from a post earlier in the thread, which began with the acknowledgement that they had from the very beginning deviated from last year’s schedule, so it could only be of rough guidance to us. However, since the admissions office isn’t exactly giving out detailed timetables when people call, its the best we have. The other points you made about their process have also been made at previous points in the thread, so again, while I appreciate the encouragement, please read the previous pages.
Looking at the Harvard Facebook group, only 3 more people joined from last Friday. Maybe that’s how many offers were made on Friday?
@CCYouLater don’t use the fb group as a metric for how many kids are admitted from the waitlist. There are still a lot of kids that don’t leave the groups even though they commit to other universities and some kids may just be getting a facebook account.
@bobjones12345 good point. Disregard my previous post everyone lol!
Hey guys, sorry I have taken so long to respond. I have been really busy with graduation stuff, family, etc… I was released from the waitlist last Friday. I got an email saying an update had been posted to my application portal, and that is where I saw my rejection. As I mentioned, I am headed to Yale University and I couldn’t be anymore excited! Best of luck to everyone with their college pursuits!
@biggestsunsfan so is your most recent update from May 29? Also congrats btw on Yale!! That’s incredible
@margo41 sorry, my words came off as a little confusing. I was released last last Friday (May 22nd, my last day of school), so two Fridays ago. And thanks so much! I really appreciate that!!
Wow it seems they may release people randomly then.
Hopefully…
So we think they will start calling today? Mabye???
Maybe, but who knows.
Who wants to call and ask
Do you guys think they’re still going to send out waves of emails? Or are they just going to call like 20 people over the next month and then after they’re full, send out an email to everyone saying the list is full. Or are they going to keep sending out rejections and acceptances at a steady rate?
I think its more than 20 for sure. they still need at least 40 more people and the person I was on the phone with said they have 70 spots more open
Yeah, that 20 was just a random number I made up lol
lol oh ok aha I’m so curious how many are left
what are your guy’s guesses
I’m thinking 600
