Tomorrow can someone please call and ask how far they are going into the waitlist? I called yesterday and they said they hadn’t crunched the numbers yet
hoping for the best! though im extremely happy w/ Duke
@dvgbhs I called this morning and they would only tell me that decisions would be coming out in the next couple of weeks
@mrsoccer447 I’m not sure what I’m going to study yet–most likely political science, economics, international studies, or history. I like UChicago too, but I’m just slightly worried about the level of stress, safety, and the horrible weather (same applies to Harvard…) over there. What are you planning on studying?
Maybe you should submit the UChicago essay if you think it is relevant to Harvard, if it does not repeat what you wrote in your Harvard essay, and if it is not too “random” (knowing that UChicago’s prompts are weird). Also make sure that the Harvard adCom doesn’t know about the UChicago prompt.
Considering all the press they generate, I would not be surprised if Harvard AO’s have the Chicago prompts memorized.
Starting a list of waitlistees:

I’m wondering if I should still sent in a letter of rec. I sent in a very long letter–around 750 words, just because I didn’t get to express so much on my initial application. I do not want to overload them by sending in another rec though, which, at this point, I am not sure they would even take. Help?
@hitgirl Additional LoRs is overkill. They don’t want to read it. You expressed enough to get you on the WL – that’s quite the achievement. really, now you should just move on – if the call comes, celebrate. It’s impossible to do anything more at this point.
committed to CMU in the meanwhile. would go here if admitted. adtl rec was sent last week, update sent just yesterday night (I know it’s very late oops).
Do you guys think it’s too late to send in a wait list letter?? I’ve been super busy with school work and honestly deciding which college to commit to was already overwhelming enough, and I figured it would be a waste of time to put any energy into Harvard.
But now I’m rethinking it and basically my mindset is, “Why not just try?” But if it’s too late/admissions won’t even read it at this point, I don’t want to waste my time.
Send it @Senior2K15 in all likelihood they’re in the middle of reviewing applications and a LOCI could put you over the edge.
Committed to NYU Stern at this point. I’m really not expecting anything at all. Idk how I got waitlisted in the first place:/
Anyone else know how long we have to decide if we are offered admission? I’m currently committed to Pomona and I would have to think about it if I get off the waitlist.
My friend has committed to MIT for engineering/cs. Would switching to Harvard be worth it if offered admission?
@Apam97 I think it can range from a week to a month. They give you a good chunk of time
Thanks!
If you are offered a position off the waitlist, you will have a few days to at the very most a week to decide. They need to know whether the position is filled or not, and whether it will need to be offered to the next person.
The first round of people offered admission off the waitlist get the longest amount of time to decide, and then the time span shrinks down with each successive wave. The first wave can get about 1 - 2 weeks to decide, but nothing is guaranteed
Does anyone know/heard when they are announcing this first wave and how many they plan on taking off the waitlist?
One person on Facebook got a call today but declined the offer.
