Last year they took 30 off, the year before it was 20. I don’t think those numbers include z listers though
Here’s one source that Harvard Admissions is going to committee tomorrow (Fri.) to determine waitlist candidates - via a blog today on the “Ivy Coach” website: http://■■■■■■■■■■■■/the-ivy-coach-blog/ivy-league/harvard-going-to-waitlist/
That article is so heinously written that I have a hard time taking it seriously…
@mrsoccer447 @wctoec I’m committed to University of Chicago as well!
Thanks for the advice!
found out the deadline for LoRs were a while back! my letter was fairly long anyways so i really do not want to piss off my counselor.
@Gauchman Thanks for posting. That info is super helpful, actually, because the Ivy Coach tends to be pretty accurate in their reporting. The fact that they are posting this update (with several hundred students who didn’t send in reply and probably many others who committed to other universities), makes me believe, at the very least, that they will be admitting more people than last year.
@Peachmarmalade I have a hard time believing this person, as per the Ivy Coach’s reporting that Harvard is only meeting in committee tomorrow. Was she a Z-lister, because otherwise her call wouldn’t make a lot of sense to me…
called them today asking about something else and they told me the first wave would be this week…i didn’t even ask about it but it was nice that they told me! she also told me they were meeting when i called so i think the ivy coach may not be totally accurate. maybe they were meeting for a different purpose though.
@235423 I don’t know if he was telling the truth, but he has no reason to lie (I don’t even know him). He posted on a Facebook group that he got notified today through phone. He is not a z-lister, and has already committed to another ivy. I think the committee might have already gone into session and he was just lucky enough to be picked. Regardless if it’s the truth or not, hopefully we find out some decisions within the next few days!
Do z-listers find out earlier or later than everyone else?
Does this week mean starting today? Or does it mean they’ll come out starting Monday?
Would they make calls on the weekend?
also how bad is it if you miss their call…
Are there any changes on the online portal for those who were accepted today?
Guys, my phone number on my common app is wrong…(put a 6 instead of a 9, honestly idk how that happened). I just sent in an email today to correct it. If I get off the waitlist they would email me right? Or cal one of my parents?
@wilguen I’m sure they would at least email you if they could not get a hold of you by phone. I don’t think Harvard would just decide to not let you in because of a wrong number.
I get that it’s nerve wracking to be waiting – but now to squeeze anxiety about wrong phone numbers or whatever – is nuts. If they’ve accepted you after pulling your name out of thousands of waitlisters, they will do everything to get in touch with you. You’re not going to MISS their notification. They aren’t incompetent dolts.
@kayture I spoke to admissions, and they said they would announce the first round next week. I don’t think anyone found out any info today
Good luck to everyone, enjoy the weekend!
@235423 do you know if they will come out starting Monday?
