So I took the SAT for the first time and I got a 2320: 800 CR 740 M 780 W (11 essay)
I’m really disappointed because having anything other than an 800 on Math really upsets me, let alone a 740. Anyway, I’m planning to retake the test in June and I hope that I can raise my Math score to 800.

@harvardfanatic10 was this your first time taking it?

How are you guys finding your sub-scores for writing?

@danebrick
Yeah, it is. I studied though, so I didn’t go in blind. I took around 10 practice tests. My cr score would have been in the 700s if I studied vocab… I got 8 vocab qs wrong.

@tman it says it right above your essay score

@harvardfanatic10 you should retake it just to be safe

@Danebrick
Thanks for the advice. Should I take it in October or May? I think I can get 800s in math and writing, but cr is holding me back. What do you think?

if you have a bunch of ap exams, then you should take it in October. Clearly, I’m not a CR guy if you saw my score, so you should ask someone else about that. Math and writing are all about constant practice. You should try redoing the blue book tests during the summer and get some other prep books now for the sections you feel are the most necessary for. Good luck

Alright cool. Thanks for the advice @danebrick
I actually have no AP exams. Just SAT subject tests. Thanks though.

10 points away from what I need. -_- So frustrating.

2240
CR: 680
M: 770
W: 790 (80 subscore w/9)
Eh kinda pissed cause CR, really want a 2300. oh well I can retake later. congrats to everyone here who got a great score, I’m jealous of y’all

2200
CR: 730 (Yay)
M: 670 (Noooo, but its ok)
W: 800 (80 MC!, 10 Essay!!!)
Overall, I am pretty satisfied but will definitely retake. I expected a little lower in CR, and math I absolutely tanked. The writing though, 80 MC? I was sure I got some wrong. Pretty good 1st time score for myself. Just need to improve math by a good amount, and my superscore will be good! Good job to all, and remember you can almost always retake!

M: 800
W: 760 (80 on mult. choice, 8 essay)
CR: 770
Composite: 2330

Math and Reading stayed the same from last January, writing went up by 60… I’m pretty upset, as I really though I had a shot at a 2400… But yeah the essay has always killed me Is it worth retaking? I’m going for HYPS and I don’t want my SAT to hold me back. Congrats to everyone who got the score they wanted/needed :)

aStryker, with a score that high, any increase would be negligible to colleges. Good job!

Peach: Thank you, I appreciate it! Also, thanks for the advice! I definitely prefer to not take it again if I can avoid it, so it was nice to hear that :)

790 CR
800 M
800 W (80 mc, 10 essay)
2390
I have mixed feelings about this… I’m happy scored in the 99% percentile range but disappointed because I was only 10 pts away from 2400. I probably won’t retake because apparently colleges don’t really care (is that true?)… I hope I stand a chance for HYPS…

W: 730
CR: 660
M: 620

I’m not really happy about these scores… I’ve gotten better CR and Math scores. I guess I should practice over the next few weeks for the May test. Does taking the SAT multiple times hurt your reputation during college admissions? I’m a sophomore, so I don’t know if my scores even count yet.

Just don’t take the sat more than 3 times.

Overall: 2120
CR: 680
Math: 800
Writing: 650 (67, 8)

Really mad about the writing… i didn’t know that not filling up the entire page can lose you so many points. I had been consistently scoring in the mid 700 in practice tests. Happy to get the math 800 out of the way at least.

Can someone explain to me how retaking and superscoring looks to colleges? Like, it’s great that I can superscore, but I would feel so much better if I get that higher score in one sitting. And, do a majority of people score low on the first time and then retake it for a 2300+ ? Or do most just take it once and be done? I can definitely get up there to a 2300 or higher. This was my first time btw, with limited prep. I’ve got direct hits and all the other good stuff to prepare. Thanks

Overall: 2060
CR 790
Math 640
Writing 630 mc 68 essay 6 …UGH
I am so disappointed in my score!! Especially the writing… I’m wondering if I got off track on some of my multiple choice answers, because I was SURE that I got them all right. Or would such a low score on the essay affect it that much? Wow…retake I guess…
