Official June 4 SAT Reasoning test discussion

dismissive

dismissive

i was between dismissive and outraged

dismissive...... I guess

what abt:

financial constraint
initially perplexed
thoughtful prudence
economy led to loss of individuality
both passages acknowldged dispute between workers and employees

One thing on this test that stood out to me was the fact that there were quite a few sections with odd numbers of problems. For example, I had one math section with 18 questions, two 35 question writing sections, and a 24 question verbal section. That was weird.

albertfermat1, i got

governmental regulations
initially perplexed
thoughtful prudence
loss of individuality or ideals or something..
hostile workers/employee relationships

"financial constraint
initially perplexed
thoughtful prudence
economy led to loss of individuality
both passages acknowldged dispute between workers and employees"

That's what I had.

It has to be financial constraints because it said the government had totally stopped funding SETI.

was the cube/midpoint one 1/8, 8, or 1/6??

ii dont think government...because if you read on it said "financial burdens...", plus, the government took away MONEY...it didnt matter WHO paid...as long as they had money...anyone else agree

i got 1/8th, and it was financial constraints, govt took away funding

1/6... I just kinda looked at it... It looks like 6 pieces would fit.

My answers were the same as albertfermat1 except that I put "ultimately disappointed" instead of "initially perplexed"

no, its the ratio of the piece to the original cube, not to the remaining cube

lets say you say each side is 6.

So original area is 6x6x6 = 216

area of the piece is bh/2(h) 3x3/2 * 6 = 45

45/216 = 1/6

i agree albert...what were the other choices for dispute between workers and employees?

i also put the isolationist thing instead of thoughtful prudence, but that one i struggled with

i had 1/6th originally but then changed it to 1/8

i put the absolute isolationist thing also

i put 1/6, which one was it?

no... its 1/8:

area of small piece = (r/2)^2/2 * r = r^3/8, hence one eighth

the one about thoughtful prudence, what was the question - i know i had that question , i just dont remember exactly what it was

but absolute isolationist is too ABSOLUTE...he wants us to be careful, but still find aliens, instead of completely ignoring life...plus, it doesnt make sense for an Astronomer to be an isolationist...thats like oxymoronic
