Official June 4 SAT Reasoning test discussion

I didn't have the walrus one...I had an angry lady sen. comp with ungainly as a choice and it was wrong lol

It was hmm the only 1 in the chocies which actually mentioned about roasting the coffee

Essay: pretty good
Math: very confident
I skipped like 6 questions in one of the writing sections and one of the CR sections....like how many points does that already automatically take me down from an 800?

Spartan I had that questions too, lol, that was the last question I answered on the entire test--I said had began seconds after time was up (like I erased one answer the second it ended :/)

What did you guys put for the passage that dealt with travel partners, when it asked what it meant by Hemingway "took" from the experience? Did you say "assume" or "glean"...

i think that passage must have been experimental

No, it was most surely not experimental. You just didn't have the form I did. Anyone else???

I had no idea heltahir, but I said glean.

I said gleaned. I'm pretty sure that's right.

can some1 please post the two questions/answers associated with the native american mini passage?

oh nooo i said asummed

Here are some CR questions I remember:

Provincial charm v. foreboding isolation (?)

Description with glasses showes that experience needed in order to distinguish (adults)

Description of environment in paragraph one is a generalized thesis which is then supported

Fitzgerald did stuff that annoyed Hemingway

Author would criticize statements in passage two for being too critical and not acknowledging that there are some advantages to having a travel partner

Glean v. Assume(?)

Description of Inuit language shows relationship bet. Lang. and thought

Author implies that astronaut language has potential to become exclusive

Lines show that both daughter and mother often became frustrated with each other

Both statements by the two people contradict initial statements

Description of astrounaut jargon as “foreign language” shows that most laypersons would find it needlessly complicated

Punishment given by mother best described as a skill that is difficult to master

Descriptions of all the different signs mother painted in Chinese mother/daughter passage shows the variety of projects for which the mother painted calligraphy for( can't really remember how it went, but I know the answer's A for this one)

Mother's description of how to write shows that she emphasizes on harmony

In the description of how mother lectured during lessons, the word "stuffing" in the sentence on how she "stuffed" her daughter's head full of lessons most nearly means "cramming"

The situation most nearly similar to that of the athlete practicing his moves because of his behavioral patterns is that of a musician, or someone practicing his or her work( can't remember the answer wording, but think answer was C)

Same

Same

Same

Same

I think the answer was something like "go through in your mind"

Nice memory.

yeah i had none of those questions

Wait, for 11 did you put the one that said that astronaut jargon uses words in ways other than what they usually mean fed04???

did anyone have disneyland or know if it is experimental?

on the one with absolute isolationism/thoughtful prudence, I put "thoughtful prudence", but changed it to "unconditional trust" because it seemed to me that the scientist was commenting on how SETI scientists are just sending signals out without knowing whether or not the extraterrestrials are dangerous. Did I just misinterpret the question? And if I did, what exactly was the question asking?

No, that's not the one I used.

What??? Those seemed like the only two legitimate answers fed04. I couldn't imagine what else besides those two answers you could have put...

lightheaded -- i put thoughtful prudence

unconditional trust would mean that the scientist commenting totally supported SETI's actions of sending out signals, aboslute isolationism would mean that the commentor doesnt want to have anything to do with the aliens.
