Official List: Accepted Off of the Penn Waitlist, Class of 2013

If i get put on the extended waitlist I will tear my hair out. I just want a yes or no already…

ugh this is lasting so long. i wish they would send us mass rejections like harvard did just to relieve us already

^^^^ Mimzy, I do not know where did your representative got those exact numbers. I called Upenn today and I was told that the waitlist was still active. They said that although they expect to notify us on whether the class is completely full by June, she said it might take time to finalize process even throughout June. I was told that we “still have a chance”. Regardless of how small the chances are, the fact is that it appears as the waitlist activity is not concluded yet.

Mimzy’s only intention was to help out the anxious waitlistees on this thread… I don’t think he/she would have had any motive to invent information. Besides, the “extended waitlist” that Mimzy referred to implies that the waitlist is still active to some degree.

Don’t bite each other’s heads off! Wait lists suck and I’d love to see you guys get good news without getting dog-eat-dog over it.

Hi again,
What you have written is not inconsistent: there will still be a few people taken off the list, but I assure you that the Rep I spoke to told me that there will be a much reduced waiting list, and the majority of people who got in to Penn from the list have already been contacted. She said, specifically, that there would be 200 people allowed to stay on the list, and the rest would get a letter. (My S has not received anything, and I’ll let you know when he does.)

That said, I will agree with all of you that Penn is not the easiest place to get answers from, and that the answers are often inconsistent. I too am shocked that a higher number of CCers did not get letters last week (letters and emails – she was precise about that).

So while the list is still technically ‘active,’ the position that all of you are in is absolutely NOT the same as it was three weeks ago, when anything was possible. (My S is no slouch: national merit finalist, 2260 on SAT, top 10%, lots of extra currics, etc., so the waiting list had to have been incredible.)

Mimzy

I did not bite anyone’s head off, I was just wondering where the representative got those exact numbers. I know waiting is stressful. I contacted my representative and he did not get that specific. He just said that he does not expect any significant wailitst activity even though its not all finalized. God I hope I am on the extended waitlist, I am willing to follow everything necessary throughout the entire summer if it means there will still be a hope. I am in the state of utmost desperation.

^i totally understand that desperation of wanting to be a part of penn’s class of 2013… but also just like, Jakeesha… i would like an answer already. i have received absolutely NOTHING from penn, and it’s just an awful feeling of uncertainty and rejection at this point.

if ben franklin was still alive, i think he would agree with me when i say that waiting from november to june is cruel and unusual punishment…

I agree c-hica, but obviously it does not make any difference for them. I want to find out fast but I am afraid that it is something that I will later regret being notified about.

Ill continue waiting, if it means I still have a shot, but I really have lost a lot of hope. I’ve spent the last few weeks of my life being optimistic about a school I’m probably not going to, instead of getting excited about the school I probably am going to.

"I’ve spent the last few weeks of my life being optimistic about a school I’m probably not going to, instead of getting excited about the school I probably am going to. "

Never a good idea for your mind and soul.

how many exactly are in the first round?

i guess nobody so far has received a rejection from the waiting list

“Never a good idea for your mind and soul.”

yeah, don’t I know it.

Yeah Epaminondas, its never a good idea, especially when you are going to Columbia this fall. You really made us all feel much better by giving that valuable advice.

bump 10 chars

where did you get into stanford09?

I just got this email!

Yes, we did have a large batch of pull-ins last week- but much to my chagrin, my region is still being reviewed by the higher-ups.
So, still waiting. Believe me, I’m as anxious as you to get this all squared away…

-N

Which means there is still activity, at least in upstate new york. i think thats cuz our recs went in late (she was in TX) so maybe some good news for upstate NYers!

I’ve emailed penn twice and gotten no response whatsoever… :frowning: they hate me lol

^ ^ ^
are you emailing penn in general or your specific regional rep

i emailed my specific regional rep in april lol…no response

then i emailed penn in general about a week ago…no response

i’m not gonna push it anymore lol

Sorry everyone, arrogant retorts are never part of my vocabulary.

I guess I just wanted to boost my post count :)

(BTW stanford, your username surely made everyone feel good about themselves)
