Essay

Work as group goals better than individual goals

i put example of basketball TEAM (cicago bulls work together at getting national champs)

Huck finn and jim- work together to achieve freedom, better than if they worked together to realiz individual goals.

WWII- hitler kills, alies work together to defend peace, work togethr for one common goal. forget individual rpoblems such as economy and stuff, and focused on removing hitler.

is that good essay material

wut did everyone else use as examples?

Wow...now I'm worried that my examples were way too universal. I used WWII, pro football teams and English abolition of slavery.

i tried to twist specific examples so i used MLK and Lincoln. i said MLK was part of the civil rights movement but held by his own ideals of non-violence and i said lincoln didn't give into radical ideas of the emancipation movement (like suffrage for blacks) cause if he had, then more northerners would've opposed him. i dunno how much they'll like those but thats what i thought of on the spot

Are you serious? Lmao I've seen that same prompt in a sat prep book

I thought my essay was pretty decent. I used the United Nations, The Iliad, and real-life fake example.

i said that individual freedom was important in helping groups

examples:

alexander the great being like a tyrant and having his army mutiny, thus ruining the entire macedonian empire

capitalism itself (lol, i thought that was obvious), and the fact that america has the best economy in the world b/c people have individual choice

personal example from a club lol

soccer experience
jimmy neutron episode lmao

I talked about the American Federation of Labor, French Philosophes and community council

what exactly was the question? I'm afraid that I read it too fast and interpreted wrong.

crispsoph u obviously didnt take the test and want the essay topic.

Anyways,
I said groups having one idea is better
I used Westward Expansion, and World War II.

Walden Two + personal anecdote

political parties and member of sports team (personal anecdote)

political parties and unions work better together, ie. radical republicans of reconstruction/women's suffrage

sportsfreak, I used almost exactly the same examples!

I used two examples - 1984 and The Grapes of Wrath. My paragraphs were really long; I filled up the whole two pages. Can you still get a 11 or 12 without three examples? I know the SAT is essay is just graded, essentially, by a formula, so I may be out of 11-12 range. My essay was insightful, but it just didn't have the formulaic three examples.

ha thats really not a big deal. you don't need 3 examples to get an 11 or 12, at all. if your essay is insightful you shouldn't worry about it.

Well, that's good. The prep book I read (Sparknotes Critical Reading and Writing Workbook) seriously emphasized the formula. ;)

I used MLK, and V for Vendetta, thats a book too right..

asc3nd - I definitely took the test, i know everything that's on it
i don't know why you drew that conclusion but I was just afraid that I didn't read the question correctly and digressed from the topic.

I used Andy Pettite and Roger Clemens as my main example and personal anecdote... I hope the Pettite/Clemens thing works???
