Official March SAT Math Discussion 2008

oh woww i feeeeeel soo dumb right now!!!! =( i think i was adding by 3's lollll not 5 's

103 was right for sure. I just recognized that 13+(18x5)=103 ...

Recipricol question was B, right?

wat was the reciprocal q?

I'm sorry... meant "which set represented the inverse function" question.

b i think, but i wouldnt worry too much about that q. only one possible choice if you know what inverse means.

What was the answer for the question with
I. a>0
II.B>0
III.a>b

Was it just I or I and III.

it was 1 and 3 cuz 1 was right and b had to be negative not positive so it had to be bigger

oh ya... duh! At least I got it right then.

What was the answer for the question with
I. a>0
II.B>0
III.a>b

Was it just I or I and III.

Dekscholar, i think you have it wrong for III. a>b i think its the other way around b>a

wat was the one for 1/3^-x times 1/3^-y = 27.. then it ask wat was 1/3^-x plus 1/3^-y ...

the circle graphs at the end... the second one was carrots.. NOT onions.. very tricky question..

the rate question where jane types half the manuscript in 10 pages per day and then later she does 20 pages per day.. wat was her rate?
- i put 15.. but i KNOW its wrong.. because its obviously a tricky... the choices were like 13 1/3.. 12 1/2... 15... 17 1/3 etc. etc..

the question dealing with lines L and K... Point P is across line k and then across line L
- i put A because 90 degree angles make perpendicular..

b couldn't be greater than a because it had a negative y intercept and a positive slope so A, the slope, had to be the bigger of the two

the 10 pgs per day one was 13.333333
make up numbers

"wat was the one for 1/3^-x times 1/3^-y = 27.. then it ask wat was 1/3^-x plus 1/3^-y ...
"

the answer was 4/9

but i dont fricking get it.... 10 pages per day.. then 20 pages per day... and miraculously... u get 13 1/3..... what do you mean make up numbers?

ok so say there is 100 pgs.
50 pgs for each
50/10 equals 5 days on 10 pgs
50/20 equals some days with 20 pgs average them

take 100 as the number of pages, you just have to pick one to make things simpler, you could do it with variables and stuff and prove that it doesn't matter how many pages, but i don't want to.

if it had 100 pages, then it has to be that she typed the first fifty at 10 pages per day, so she did it in 5 days.

then, she did the second one at 20 pages per day, so that took 2.5 days to do the remaining 50 pages. then it's just total pages over total time

100

5+2.5
=13.33333 = 13 1/3

"what was the y=ax+b one?

i put just I but it might have been III as well depending on whether it was a>b or b>a

does anyone else rember what they put?"

It was both I and III
It was I becuase you could see the slope is positive, therefore a>0
and III becuase you can see that a>b since b is the y intercept and that was at around -2 or something

I and III b/c I thought it was a>b, am I wrong?:(

And for the computer chip one was it 8 or 256, I'm going to be so annoyed if I did something as stupid as reading it wrong...

anybody out there who got 3 answers for grid ins = 8??
seriously i really thought the last 8 asked for how many times the sample would double if it doubles every 18 months and the time period was 12 years. what other info did they give you??
