Hey guys, has anyone from the US or Canada got into the engineering department yet? This waiting is killing me. If you have please post your stats and your major.

Thanks

I was accepted as a mechanical engineering major on Feb. 8th I believe.
Stats:
GPA: 98%
Class Rank: 1/200ish
ACT: 35
IB: 43 predicted (already got a 7 in 2 courses)

This has been my application status for like 4 weeks now, and I uploaded the last required document sometime in the beginning of february. Does admissions email you when your decision is ready, or do I just have to keep checking my minerva?

My status has been further review required for a month , eventhough they recieved my mid year grades on the 28th of feb , I emailed them and they said that my file was ready to be reviewed again , but I wonder why they haven’t reviewed it again so far ? How long do these guys take man , I’m an international student and I also need to apply for a visa in the event of an acceptance ( I should get accepted hopefully :))

McGill is very random in their acceptance schedule. I had everything in by the end of September, including my full transcripts. They just got around to asking me for an explanation of activites, as I did an exchange year after graduation. I sent them everything within 45 minutes. Still on further review required. And I am also an international student.

Should i make a facebook account for this McGill class of 2017 group…? Are there a lot of people on it?

McGill already has one created for the new incoming class.

General Comments: Accepted in early March a week after submitting my documents. So surprised and happy! I don’t think I’ll attend though. Good luck to everyone else waiting for their decisions!

I’m reviewed decision pending now … Hope this doesn’t take long ! I emailed service point and they said the decision should come ‘shortly’ , but I don’t trust them after the horrible wait they put me through during FRR :(

Faculty of science and interfaculty of art and science here :)

Does anyone have any idea how long reviewed- decision pending takes ? ( international)

I went straight from further review required to accepted. I would venture a guess that there is no rhyme or reason to the acceptance process. I was ready for review for nearly 6 months, and finally emailed them asking if there was a problem since they had my complete transcripts. Only then did they request a summary of my activities-which I had previously offered,but they would not take. It took another 2+ weeks. I am international to DeSautels.

Got accepted for Materials Engineering (2nd choice)
Still waiting for Mechanical Engineering (1st choice) decision- application reviewed pending decision!

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a double major (Mechanical Engineering and Finance) at McGill?
If anyone can calculate how long it will take me to achieve the double major (if possible) please inform me!
All help greatly appreciated!

@gomontreal

Congratulations ! Hopefully ill join you soon , trying to keep my sanity at the moment because this wait is killing me . I presume that since arts is the largest faculty it will be relatively easier to get into than management …

This is a question to all international students :
Is it a problem to get a study visa If your letter of acceptance says ‘maintain current academic standard’ it’s not a conditional offer more of a mandatory graduation requirement , but mcgill doesnt make this clear , can this hence pose a problem towards getting a visa ?

@Crazylawyer

in short, yes…it can and will pose a problem if you do not maintain your current academic standards. if you search for it on the canadian government’s website, there is a page that mentions that if your offer is conditional, you have to show proof that you are fulfilling that condition. otherwise, they can and have the right to reject your visa application.

@Ed Dalton
I realise that if the offer is conditional , one has to meet the conditions specified before applying for a visa , however in mcgill’s offer there are no specific conditions and the offer is rather unconditional , all they want you to do technically is graduate and complete A levels .It is not possible to 'maintain current standards ’ first and then apply for a visa because it takes 3 months to get a student visa .All universities technically write in their acceptance letters that one has to continue doing well , but I think as long as there are no specific conditions ( like there are for UK universities) ,the offer is unconditional and should not pose any immigration problems , after all everyone from my country had applied with the same acceptance letter telling them to ‘maintain a standard’ , unconditional in other words .

If anyone can post their acceptance letter from mcgill … I would appreciate it ( the letter which is provided via PDF link after admitted-pending final results)

@Crazylawyer

you are right in that the offer from McGill is technically unconditional. but McGill and the visa office are two separate entities. seems like it’ll be your first time applying for anything through a visa office. good luck with the process. many people have been asked to proof that they have fulfilled their condition hence me mentioning.
