Official National Merit Semifinalist Qualifying Score Thread for the Class of 2013

Clapuma

I agree wholeheartedly. Trying to make decisions about applications but don’t know if he will be able to get the NM scholarships some schools offer. You feel in limbo in finalizing your list & moving forward. thank you for verbalizing the issue clearly.

Thank you everyone for all the the help & organization and support. Still waiting in New Orleans to find something out.

If Datnab has the entire list, doesn’t this book provide cutoffs (it seems odd only names will be in the book). It would be nice to have these cutoffs posted.

I agree with Clapuma that it is a crappy process to send the lists to thousands of high schools in the country but keep it secret from the students who are trying to figure out if they made it. There were a lot of disappointed kids in Texas (and several other states) when the scores jumped by 3 points after staying steady for over 5-6 years. So it is important to release these cut offs and it looks like collegeboard is pushing these dates further and further into September.

Datnab, I just sent you a PM, thanks for your help!

Thanks for everything Datnab! You guys can update your Nevada cut-off, because I’m a 208 and I got it

Thank you so much Datnab!! Totally legit, and happy NMSF with 220 in CA!!

Will 214 make it in PA?

Datnab, sent you a pm. Thanks so much!

My inbox is filling as fast as I can keep up with it. I’m sorry if it takes a while to get to your message. To expedite the process, I ask that you only request one high school and preferably only one name for me to confirm.

Also, if you posted a message on my profile, please send it to me in a PM. Some people do both and I don’t know which ones I’ve answered. I am only answering private messages.

Thank you very much, Datnab. Hope you will be here next year!!

210 Qualifies in Louisiana

I have answered everyone who has sent me a message before 1:30 PM EST. I am taking a break for a couple hours. I’m sorry to anyone who’s waiting, but I’ll get to your PM eventually. I expect my inbox to be full again within an hour or so, so if it’s full before you message me, just try again later.

Datnab is a G. Thanks man!

214 qualifies in PA! Thank you Datnab!!!

Sent you a PM Datnab, thanks bud

Thanks so much Datnab! You are a very patient and generous soul.

Does anyone know what the three-digit numbers mean next to the kids’ names on the lists that Datnab is sending? I looked at the press release from last year for our state, and it also has the three-digit numbers, but there is no indication of what they mean. Odd.

I asked Datnab when he was kind enough to help me. He says it is the code they put down for their interest/major when they took the PSAT. Makes sense to me based on the number for my daughter. I found the listing here:

<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

Datnab, you should put this as a part of community service, overtime work on Labor day!

Datnab, the Magnificent! (Thanks.) I take it, BTW, that you have lists of NMSF but not of qualifying scores, otherwise this would really be simplified.

I hope those of you who are receiving information useful to compiling the cutoff list will share that with all of us. Presumably this will also cut down on the PM’s that Datnab is so helpfully responding to.

I, too, agree with Clapuma that this is a somewhat bizarre, inefficient, inconsistent, and confusing way to deliver notifications. However the NMSC has always given the high schools a prominent rule in the NM competition. The high schools receive the test, conduct it on their premises and often during school hours, proctor and collect it with staff, distribute results, and finally, notify and endorse winners. So, weird as it is, this method is consistent with the larger ends the NMSC seems to want to achieve.

Last year’s cutoffs:
