Does anyone know this year’s acceptance rate? I’ve heard 28% but I’d like to know for sure and I can’t find any stats for the class of 2019 online.
@itsjusttanner at the Welcome Day they said 28% out of something like 52,000 applicants
Per a close friend who is a Husky Ambassador, 28% is indeed the number, down 4 points from 32% last year.
I would highly encourage international full pay students to attend! You guys are the reason NU can afford to give me my scholarship
Has anyone seen if NU has posted 2015-16 tuition and room & board fees yet? I couldn’t find anything on the website but we are obviously interested to see the increase as we compare NU to other schools. Also, for current students, what has the average increase been during your time there? Thanks!
About 3% year
@HuskerDu Thanks - Something I Learned Today B-)
See link to article - 2015-16 tuition going up 4.9%! The other schools my son is considering have gone up around 3% on average. This adds up over 4 yrs, NEU may be moving itself out of range compared to other options…

Northeastern is still several thousand dollars a year cheaper than BU, BC and Tufts.
Unfortunately, those are not the schools he’s deciding between, otherwise your point is well-taken!!
Choosing between Carnegie, Boston University, and Northeastern University for chemistry (pre-med). Any input?
@Arurei - If you’re going for pre-med, follow the money. Medical school is expensive. You’d get a great education at any of those 3 schools.
I have a question about Co-op and financial impact making up for classes during Summer Classes. If I decide to stay in NEU dorms for both my 6 month co-ops, I wlll need to pay for room+board for this 12 month period as well as additional $$ for room+board to make up for my classes by attending 4 summer sessions. Has anyone made financial calculation on how much more it will cost with 4 X Summer sessions for room+board? I am aware that total Tuition remains the same with 2 X co-ops for a 4 year term.But the room+board will definitely add on to the expenses on top of the $62,202 per year X 4 Years.
@nanotechnology My son’s Dean’s scholarship was changed to the National Achievement Scholarship. Thanks for all the info you provide to us all. I was concerned at first that it wouldn’t be changed but I was assured by the Financial Aid office that it would and they did change it.
@nanotechnology @TomSrOfBoston @novafan1225 @PengsPhils I just wanted to thank you for your contributions to the NEU postings. We just completed our first college process for our oldest, and NEU was always in the top 3, and ended up in the top 2, so I’ve been perusing these forums since the fall. Your insights have been very helpful in our search.
Unfortunately, my S ended up choosing another school but I thought he would be a husky almost until decision day. I’ve learned a lot in the past year on CC, but the NEU forums were particularly rich and active, in no small part b/c of all of your efforts. For those of you who are students, I particularly commend your dedication to assisting others while I’m sure you’re pretty busy in school. Thanks again!
Got into the NUin program and kinda bummed because I dont think they give any merit scholarships to those in this program. I wrote my essay about my study abroad trip and I guess they want me to go somewhere else again lol…
@creamcheeese This is a year-old thread - you might want to repost in one of the NUin threads…
