@neutopschool unless you asked to be admitted into NU in if you don’t get into your 1st choice school
also, they don’t admit by major. They admit by school
seems like everyone applied to engineering…

did u guys ask to be admitted into NU in?
I applied to the college of computer and information science
How competitive is NEU’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business? Is it the most competitive, average, or easier schools to get into for NEU. I applied to that and I hope I don’t get straight up rejected because of the competition.
mckim is one of the harder ones to get into, which is why I applied to school of social sciences as a business/ps major
shouldn’t be impossible though
@TomSrOfBoston Can you help shed a little light on the above posts? Does NEU have different requirements/ criteria for admission to certain colleges over others? Or do they just admit to the University as a whole, regardless of what college your designated major is in?
@sml1234 when my admissions counselor came to my hs, she made it seem like that is the case. I really hope it is or else i’m royally screwed.
@neutopschool I went on a tour recently and they told me they admit you to the University, regardless of what school/college your major is in. So I think we both have the right impression.
Does anyone know how each school stacks up in terms of difficulty to get into? Which is the hardest/easiest?
@mag3646 Theoretically, no school is harder/easier to get into than another (that’s at least what they say).
honestly college acceptances are so fickle and random nowadays I can’t believe what anyone says anymore
How to learn how to stop hyperventilating when reading college confidential: a story by me
if what sml1234 said was true, then it shouldn’t be difficult to switch majors, right?
@camwow Correct.
Guys, I found it!! On the Deferred Student FAQ page (link on your app status page if you were deferred):
“Applicants, regardless of academic area of interest or major, are considered equally for admission to
Northeastern. Therefore, changing majors will not increase an applicant’s chances for admission. However, if students are genuinely interested in another area and wish to change their major, they can request a change of major via the Application Status Check website.”
And that document was updated on December 15, 2016 for anyone who thinks that it may have been outdated information.
@sml1234 thank you so much for finding that.
does it make me look better if my friend at school applied to northeastern as well and has lower stats than me?
@sml1234 Northeastern admits to the university, not to a major. I wasn’t aware that they were explicit about it on the website!
I know it’s impossible to get a definite answer about the notification date…but does anyone have an approximate guess to when results will be posted?
